Dear Kindergarten Students and Parents,

Please join us at Hambright Elementary on Wednesday, August 25th at 6 PM for Kindergarten Orientation. You will get a chance to meet your child’s kindergarten teacher and visit his or her classroom. In addition, your child will have the opportunity to take a ride on the big yellow school bus! This evening is designed to help you and your child make an easy adjustment to kindergarten. Last Friday afternoon, 11 sixth grade students from Hambright traveled to Pequea Elementary to compete in the first Reading Olympics. Each student needed to read four books before the competition and then were able to compete in three events. Three groups of 6th graders competed and our Porkers came through with the win! More importantly they had a lot of fun and made a fantastic team.

Penn Manor Master Facility Studies Survey 2010

The Penn Manor School District is currently engaged in a Master Facility Study. The purpose of the Master Facility Study is to create a long-range plan to guide future renovations, additions, and potential land purchases. This survey will be available until June 30, 2010. The survey is confidential.

Girls on the Run

This year several staff members and students at Hambright Elementary have been participating in a national program called Girls on the Run. It is a non-profit program designed to help girls develop self-respect and confidence. The girls in the program have been training to run in a 5k race at Franklin & Marshall College that will take place on Saturday, May 1st. There are 13 Hambright girls participating in the program.

Won’t you join us to run, cheer, or volunteer on that day? Our race will feature smiles, hugs, laughter, accomplishment, and fun. Just imagine the sight of 200 girls with their families, friends, and supporters running beside them. We would love to see YOU there!

Penn Manor Track and Field Day!

Who: 4th through 6th graders from any Penn Manor Elementary school
When: Thursday, May 20, at 6 p.m.
Where: Penn Manor High School’s Track, under the lights!
Why: To give students a chance to compete against a wide variety of children their age.

20th Annual Fine Arts Day

Hambright will celebrate our 20th annual Fine Arts Day on May 7th. This is an exciting event in which students have the opportunity to interact and work with local artists. Student will participate in two workshops where they will create their own piece of art or learn a new dance. In the afternoon the students will interact and observe the artist as they work. What a wonderful opportunity for our students to meet real artists. We would like to thank the Hambright PTO and the Penn Manor Education Foundation for continuing to fund this amazing day.
