Penn Manor School District will have a two hour delay with modified kindergarten on Friday, March 6th.
Hopefully, this is our last winter storm for the school year. Tomorrow, Friday, March 6 will now be a cycle day 5. Since school was closed today, we will culminate our Read Across America spirit week with Greenie Grinch Day and/or Crazy Hat Day tomorrow, Friday, March 6. Students are encouraged to wear green like the Grinch in the book the How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and/or they can wear a crazy hat like the cat from the book The Cat in the Hat.
Make sure you make the change on your calendars that school is now in session on Thursday, April 2 due to today’s closing. Don’t forget to set your clocks one hour forward on Saturday night, March 7, as we “spring ahead” for daylight savings. You don’t want to be late for the Penn Manor ReadAThon in the high school east gym from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 8.
Don’t forget our next PTO meeting is on Thursday, March 12 at 6:30 pm!
Snow Day Math Lesson on Pi
Did you know that next Saturday, March 14 is Pi Day? Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. This year’s Pi Day is extra special because the first five numbers are the date on Saturday… 3.1415!
Pi (π) is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. Pi is a constant number, meaning that for all circles of any size, Pi will be the same.
The diameter of a circle is the distance from edge to edge, measuring straight through the center. The circumference of a circle is the distance around.
Have a “snowriffic” Thursday, a fantastic Friday, and a wonderful weekend!

We are “Pequea Proud” of fourth-grade student, Amber Floyd. She designed an advertisement, and it was selected as a winner for the Newspapers in Education week organized by the Lancaster Newspapers. Posted below is her winning entry.
Newspaper in Education (NIE) is a nationwide system of cooperation between newspapers and schools. NIE offers Journalism and Design an Ad contests to local school students in grades K-12. This is an excellent opportunity for educators to encourage students to think independently, write creatively, and constructively and/or challenge an artistic talent as well as meet academic standards. The winning entries were published in a 40-page special section entitled “NIE Week” that was inserted in LNP on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.
Great job, Amber!
PMSD is CLOSED today, Thursday, March 2nd.
Please note, school will now be IN SESSION on Thursday, April 2nd.

Dear Parents & Community Members,
As part of the desire to make continued improvements to Penn Manor School District, the following questions have been developed in order for you to provide input for school district officials. If you have children in multiple buildings, we encourage you to complete a survey for each school.
Please take a few minutes and provide your feedback. Note that this survey link is for ALL district parents with children currently in any one of the 10 Penn Manor Schools. If you have children in multiple buildings, we encourage you to complete a survey for each school. There is also a separate survey if you are a community member who does not have a child currently enrolled in the schools.
