This week kicks off an exciting time in first grade! This month we will begin our alphabet countdown, have our Race for Education , say goodbye to Miss Zook :(, go on our field trip to Lancaster County Park, and perform in the spring musical. Because May is such a busy month I will be sending home an all month calendar to help keep track of our dates. Here is some the important info to remember:

*** If you have not yet returned your child’s permission slip for the field trip, please do so ASAP*** Please also remember to send in extra shoes and socks with a plastic bag for the stream study at the park.

*** Miss Zook’s last day will be Thursday May 8. Please send any school or teacher supplies to school this week so that we can make her a teacher basket showing our appreciation! ***

Here’s a look at important dates for this week: The following letters are part of our alphabet countdown and not to be confused with cycle days.

Tuesday 4-30 A DAY- The students will complete a directed drawing for ART Day.

Wednesday 5-1 B Day- Please send bubbles to school with your child’s name on the container if you can. We will blow bubbles outside today.

Thursday 5-2 C Day . Send in a flashlight with your first grader today! We are having camping day! We will read stories with our flashlights and have s’mores for snack!

Friday 5-3 D Day . Race for Education at Hambright! We will also have a special (dog) guest and donuts for snack. It’s Dogs and Donuts Day!

Today we had a great time having an Easter Egg hunt at school! Thank you to all those who send in donations! Students have bags of treats and small toys. We did not eat the treats at school. It is up to you if and when your child enjoys them. I hope you all have a wonderful break with family and friends! I look forward to seeing the kiddos Tuesday.

Reminder:We are in need of plastic eggs and small prizes for inside the eggs. Our hunt is scheduled for this Thursday if the students stay on track with behavior goals! if you are able, please send some in with your child asap.

We have PE tomorrow! Wear your sneakers:)

No school this Friday 4/19 or Monday 4/22. Enjoy the spring break!

Tomorrow is wear RED day for spirit week, Wednesday is Tee shirt day!

Tonight report cards came home! It’s hard to believe we are int the 4th marking period already! Please send back your child’s signed report card envelope as soon as possible and as always, please email me with any questions or concerns ( cristen.appel@pennmanor.net) .

The students are working towards an egg hunt incentive for good behavior. We would love donations of plastic eggs, stickers, small erasers, or peanut free candy. The date of the egg hunt is not yet set, as the students need to earn it, but I would like to have it Wednesday or Thursday of next week. Thank you!!!

Our next book exchange will be this Friday.

Looking Ahead:

Keep an eye out for our field trip permission slip to come home the end of this week. We are going to Lancaster County Park on Wednesday, May 8.

We do have school next Thursday, April, 18th. This is a weather make-up day. We will not have school Friday April 19th or Monday, April 22nd. Enjoy the time with your family!

Miss Zook has been a major part of our class this year. She is currently finishing her full time teaching of our class this week. Her last day with us will be Thursday, May 9th. I would like to have the class bring her school supplies to prepare a gift basket for her classroom one day. if you would be able to donate anything to the basket, please send it with your child to school and have him or her drop if off with Mrs. Smith ( 1st grade teacher). She will gather the supplies in her room. Donations should be in by May 1. Thanks!
