We are celebrating T day this Tuesday by doing tie-dye with our kiddos! PLEASE remember to send in a plain white tee shirt with your 1st grader if you have not yet already done so on TUESDAY. This project can get a little messy so please send children in old clothes today! I am going to rinse these shirts and students will wear them on the last day of first grade! When they come home, shirts should be washed separately for the first time only.

Wednesday is USA Day! Wear red, white, and blue!!

Thursday is Vote for your favorite cookie day! We will do lots of fun voting activities.

Friday is WATER DAY!!! How wet each child gets will be up to them. They do not have to participate in any activity that they do not want to. We will be doing water balloon games and water relays. Please send an extra pair of clothes with your child today in case he or she gets very wet. If boys want to bring swimming trunks to change into, that would be fine.

This week is going to be FUN!!

Monday Day A- O Day – Orange and Outside today! Students can wear orange and weather permitting, we will do some outside activities! Today is the final library book return. Please send any library books back to school. We will get new spelling words today and start our study of 3D shapes. I moved our spelling test to Friday. This is a change from the original calendar sent home in the beginning of May.

Tuesday Day B- Art- P day- Today we will enjoy a picnic lunch outside! It is also Field Day for grades 1-3 from 1:15-3:15. Be sure to wear your sneakers and comfortable athletic clothes!

Wednesday Day C- Phys. Ed- Q Day! Today we will make a Quilt of Quotes to welcome next year’s first graders. With your child, please write his or her favorite part of first grade and send it to school today. It could be something we learned, an activity we completed, or a special themed day! We are going to combine these special quotes to make a quilt to share with the kindergartners. It will help them to get excited about 1st grade! We will take a short quiz today identifying cubes, cones, cylinders, and prisms.

Thursday Day D – Music – R Day! Wear Red as we read outside and listen to ” Rock and Roll!”

Friday Day A- Library – S -Sports Day! We will take our spelling test today. I will be out of the building in meetings today and the children will have a substitute. Please dress your child in athletic clothing to play sports at the end of the day. This has been a busy week! Enjoy your long weekend and happy Memorial Day! No School Monday!!

Don’t forget about Xtra Math, especially on evenings we do not have homework. Practicing for 10 minutes a night makes a big difference in memorizing basic facts! Let me know if you need your child’s log in information.

Monday- Day D Music Today we will practice at music for our show on Wed evening! We will also study our new spelling words. I have moved the spelling test to Friday because of all the special schedule changes we had last week.

Tuesday Day A Library – no book exchange K- Kindness day! We will be doing special kindness activities today.

Wednesday Day B- Art Today Is L Day. If you have a Llama Llama book please send it to school with your child. We have plenty here for them to share as well. The students will also have lollipops during story time today. Tonight is our musical performance! See you there!!

Thursday Day C – Phys. Ed Wear sneakers. Today is M day. Wear Mismatched clothes! We will also take our math test today on 2 dimensional shapes.

Friday Day D- Music Today is N day. Wear your pj’s to watch a short movie and take a nap (haha yea right! ) We will take our spelling test today on ow and ou words!

Monday Day C- Phys Ed– We will have a spelling test today ( -y, -ie, -igh for long i) Today is Exercise day. Lucky us that it is gym day as well! Make sure to send kiddos to school wearing comfortable clothes for exercise.

Tuesday Day D- Music -Today is Game Day for letter G. Students are encouraged to bring in a board game to play! Please make sure student names are on the school appropriate game. I will have a substitute today and I will be pulling kiddos individually to do some end of the year testing. New spelling words come home today.

Wednesday Day A- Library– We will be sending our books to the library but not doing book exchange because we will be on a field trip! Here are some reminders for the trip to Lancaster County Park…

• If you have not yet sent in your child’s permission slip it is now overdue. Please send it in asap. We cannot take your child on the trip without the completed form.
• Please remember to send in a lunch if you selected that your child was bringing a bagged lunch from home.
• Students will need extra shoes and a small towel for the stream study. Flip flops and crocs are not recommended.
• MRS. APPEL’s class will be wearing RED shirts. Each class will wear the same color to help keep our groups organized. If your child has a red shirt, please send them in it today.

Thursday Day B – Art Today is H day Wear your favorite Hat or Headband today! Today is Miss Zook’s last day. Our class will miss her terribly. If you are able to donate a small gift for Miss Zook when she is teaching in her own room, or a small gift card, it would be greatly appreciated. We are preparing a small surprise party for her and wish her the best of luck as she graduates this weekend!!

Friday Day C- Phys Ed Today is Ice Cream Day! We will do lots of fun ice cream activities and enjoy a special snack!
