It’s Finally Computer Time!!

We are bringing computers home tonight! The first graders are so excited! Please be sure to complete the FUNdations review in SeeSaw. Students practiced this today at school and should be fine to complete. Here are some basic steps for using the computer at home and seesaw. Students will log on with the password which is labeled on his or her computer keyboard to the left of the track pad. The computers are touch screen. Students will automatically log into seesaw, but if not they can go to the student central page and tap seesaw. FUNdations alpahabet review should be the first one listed in activities. Students will follow the directions- click add response, tap the microphone, say the letter-keyword-sound, and then double click the green checkmark. PLEASE ONLY COMPLETE THIS ASSIGNMENT. Please complete tonight, BUT, if you are not able to due to technical difficulties, please just let me know. Your child will not have a consequence for not completing this assignment.

Some Basics…. Please charge computers before returning them to school TOMORROW. We do not have extra computers. If your child does not return the computer tomorrow, he/she will not have one to use throughout the day. Thanks for your cooperation!

Words of the Week

The kiddos did a great job on their first spelling test! Here is a list of words for this week. I am also enclosing a list of kindergarten sight words. We are reviewing these in class, but currently, the school is not transferring flash cards to and from school. Please be sure to practice these words at home in fun ways. If you are looking for ideas, be sure to message me for some easy to make games.

Welcome to Appel’s Awesomesauce! : the place to know all the first grade happenings!

The year is off to a great start! We were able to remove some furniture from our classroom and as of now, all 17 of our students are in the same classroom, spaced 6 feet apart. We couldn’t be happier to be together as a class.

We are beginning to use out laptops daily in the classroom. If you have not already, please send a pair of headphones or earbuds to school with your child’s name labeled somewhere on them. A computer agreement will be coming home this week. Please fill it out and return to school asap. Your child cannot bring his or her laptop home until a signed agreement is returned. Thanks for your cooperation.

If you have signed up for the seesaw app you have noticed your child is beginning to complete assignments on the program. These assignments are to practice using the skills to complete many of the assignments seesaw has to offer. For example, this week we are learning to use the microphone, camera, and video. Please do not worry about completing any assignments at home just yet. We will wait until laptops are home to have any home assignment.

We Made it to the Final Week!

Good Morning! This week consists of fun assignments for you to complete in celebration of the end of the school year. The ELA memory books can be worked on throughout the week as you can. I hope you enjoy making them, and/or looking at the pictures of some of the fun we had this year in the classroom. It is up to you whether you would like to show me your memory book once it is completed, but I would love to see them!

We will be having a google meet picnic on the last day of school ( this Friday) at 11:30, when we would normally be eating lunch at school. Bring a treat to eat and celebrate as we talk about some of our favorite memories of the school year. I hope to see you then! https://meet.google.com/ara-pyng-tav
