Happy Long Weekend!

Hello, everyone! I have just a few quick updates…

There will be no spelling this week. It’s a great opportunity to add more minutes to the January reading calendar!

Please remember that we do not have school on Monday and Friday (1/25) is an early dismissal.

With the change in the semester, also comes a change in our specials. We will no longer have Library Instruction, but instead will have applied engineering with Mr. Andrew. We will still have book exchange every other Day A.

Did you get the chance to look in your child’s Friday folder? It is packed with hard work!! Please empty and return the folder on Tuesday.

Thank you for your continued support! Please never hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns. (or good news!)

Enjoy the extra long weekend!

News for Jan. 14

I hope my friends in 2E had the chance to play in the snow! Please be sure your child dresses warmly this week because if at all possible, recess will be outside, most likely blacktop only.

We ended the day on Friday with our yearly health screenings (height, weight, vision, hearing) and ran out of time to sort Friday Folders. Be on the lookout on Thursday, our folders will come home filled to the brim!!

If you are interested in ordering books from Scholastic, the order forms came home last week. Please order online using the code on the sticker on the front of the flyers. Orders should be placed by Thursday, Jan. 17.

Because we have no school on Friday (teacher inservice) our spelling test will be on Thursday this week. Next week’s list will be distributed on Thursday and that test will be the following Friday (1/25).

I am sure you have heard that we earned all of our class points! The class voted on “Museum Day”. We will do this on Wednesday! 2E friends may bring in show and tell type items to create a mini-museum on their desks. We will have the chance to walk around and take a tour of the museum and each student will be able to pick one item to talk about during a sharing time. Please do not bring anything breakable. All items should fit in either your child’s backpack or a separate bag he/she can carry on the bus. This will so much fun!

It’s BOX TOP BLITZ WEEK!!!! Bring in as many box tops as you can this week and we can win a pizza party for our class!!

It is good to be back! I enjoyed hearing about everyone’s break and am happy to report that my friends in 2E came back ready to learn! Can you believe how full the Friday Folders were after just 3 days? We are hard workers!!

Our friends that teach us mindfulness will be returning Monday and visiting each Monday in January to help us learn more strategies about how to remain mindful and avoid stress, worry, and anxiety. These lessons help me too!!

In math, we are moving into subtracting larger numbers with regrouping. We are ready for this challenging skill!!

We will having our spelling test on Friday. The list came home last Wednesday. Please encourage your child to study!

I was very proud of how many minutes were read in the month of December! Our class had a combined total of 6,839 minutes!! Amazing! Can we beat that number in January?? Id everyone reads just 10 minutes more this month, we can do it!!

Thank you so much for your continued support. I absolutely love this class and am extremely proud of their progress already this year! Please contact me with any questions or concerns!!
