Wow! This was a jam packed first week of 3rd grade! Not only did we manage to fit 27 third graders into our classroom, we fit a lot of learning and fun into our week as well.
We established our classroom rules and expectations. You should have received our “Classroom Behavior Plan” in your child’s Home and Back folder. Please review this with your child and return the bottom portion next week.
We started math on Tuesday. The students did a wonderful job learning about place value. We learned how to express, compare, and order numbers. We had our first quiz today and will have our first test the week of September 8th.
We read a lot of books this weeks! We read a book about feeling jittery on the first day of school, a book about embracing the unique people that we are, a book about names, and even a book that explored “what would happen if we all did that?”
We learned A LOT of new procedures and routines! I was so proud of all of the kids. I know they had to be a bit overwhelmed, but they handled all of the “newness” with big smiles on their faces. 🙂
