One Week Down!

I am SO proud of my third graders! They made it through their first week of PSSA testing, and they did great!! I loved seeing their faces as they realized that they could do this. They had been learning these things all year, and this test wasn’t as scary as it had seemed. I was also really impressed with how well they used their testing strategies. It was enough to give me goosebumps as I walked around the room and saw all the highlighting and eliminating. 🙂

Next week we have Math PSSA testing on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Students should bring their two pieces of hard candy, one piece of gum, and a water bottle each day. Here is a great website that has math games. The students played the money games today and had a lot of fun learning how to make change.

There will be no spelling or vocab list this cycle.

Important Reminders:

*Field Trip Money/Forms are due on MONDAY!

*Book Orders are due on Friday.

*Please return report card envelopes by Friday.

*This week I told the students to record Mad Minutes in their planner. When you initial that homework was completed, you are also initialing that the Mad Minutes for that day were completed.

Thanks for all of the support you provide at home!

Enjoy this gorgeous weekend with your families!

This Week

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend!

This week in 3-B we will NOT have a spelling list, but we will still have a vocab list. The students were given their Lesson 23 Robust Vocab list today and will have their test on Friday.

The students will also be tested on Math Chapter 14 on Friday. Have your child point out different polygons around your house.

The deadline for field trip chaperone paperwork is this Friday. You will know by early next week if you will be a chaperone on the 3rd grade field trip.

This week we will spend quite a bit of time talking about the PSSA tests and what they will look like. I know that this is a stressful time for many of my students, and my goal is not to make them more overwhelmed, but instead make them realize that they CAN do this! We will use the practice test to play fun review games, I will answer all of their questions, and at the end of the week, we will dance out the nerves! 🙂

As always, let me know if you have any questions. Thank you so much for the support you provide at home!
