Week 1

Wow! These three days flew by! I have had so much fun getting to know my third graders. This is going to be an amazing year!! As of now, I plan to be here next week, but if things would change, Mrs. Diehm is ready to step in! We were lucky enough to have Mrs. Diehm in our classroom on Thursday. She was able to get to know all of the students and our classroom routines. I am confident that the transition will be a smooth one.

Our Week

Math – We started Chapter 1 on Thursday. Some of the third graders stayed with me for math and others were with Mrs. Wright. As mentioned in the math letter that came home, these placements may change throughout the year. We will make sure that you are informed of any changes. This week we reviewed place value. Our first quiz will be on Monday. The students will be quizzed on place value and ordering/comparing numbers.

Other – Thank you for making sure that your child came to school with his/her “All About My Selfie” bag. It is always so much fun to see what neat things the kids decide to put in their bags. Now that we have shared our bags, we will begin a writing project. Look for this writing project to be on display at Meet the Teacher!

Ask Your Child

Mrs. Binkley

Thank You!

Thank you to all of the families who were able to pop in today during the open house. It was wonderful getting to meet/see so many of you! Mrs. Diehm and I are so excited for this school year! Enjoy this last weekend before school starts. I’m looking forward to seeing all of my third graders on Wednesday!

New Cycle Schedule

Hello 3rd Grade Families!

This year our elementary schools will continue to use a cyclical schedule.  The elementary schedule will change to a four day cycle rotation.   These cycle days will be cycle A, B, C and D.   Each specialist class will be 45 minutes in length.  Special classes include, Music, Art, Physical Education, Applied Engineering, Library or FLEX.    The change in this schedule allows for consistent blocks for specialists time.   This change provides the advantage of helping students to adjust to a consistent schedule and also allowing teachers to plan together during this time.

We will have Music on the first day of school. Get those singing voices ready!! 🙂

Please see “Special’s Schedule” (on the right) for the complete schedule for 3-B.
