Wow! Time is flying by! Tuesday November 22nd will be my last day substituting for Mrs. Binkley. Mrs. Binkley will be back at school on Tuesday November 29th. Mrs. Binkley and I will be in contact with one another to make sure the transition goes smoothly for your child. Thank you so much for all of your support during my time with your child! If you have any further questions or would like to discuss anything further with me, please do not hesitate to contact me! Here are a few highlights from our week…
Math: We took our Chapter 7 math test. Next week, we will be starting Chapter 8 which focuses on multiplying and dividing by 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12. Help your child at home by practicing some of their multiplication math facts!
Reading: This week we read Stone Soup. We discussed the elements of a folk tale and continued to practice identifying the main idea and supporting details within a given passage.
Writing: We are continuing to work on our opinion writing. Many of us are now editing and conferencing with Mrs. Diehm. We will begin to work on our final copy.
Science: This week we learned about different natural disasters that change how the earth looks in a quick amount of time. We also watched Mrs. Diehm do an erosion demonstration!
Spelling: We had our Lesson 9 spelling test. We will get new spelling words for Lesson 10 on Monday!
Grammar: We finished up our unit on nouns! We did some review with what we have learned about nouns, and next week will have a noun quiz!
**We also had five different Ag in the Classroom presentations this week. Ask your child to share with you something that they learned from these special presentations.**
