Our Week

Math – Last week we started Chapter 10: Fractions. We learned how to identify and write fractions of a whole and fractions of a set. We also learned how to represent fractions on a number line. I was really impressed with how well the kids did with these first few fraction lessons.

Our Week

Math – We finished Chapter 9. Most students were able to complete test corrections on Friday and should have brought home their tests. After taking our math CDT tests this coming week, we will begin Chapter 10: Fractions. Fractions are tricky, but can be a lot of fun!

ELA – In Grammar, we are learning about verbs. Right now we are talking about action verbs, but my kids have learned that in grammar, nothing is that simple. We will be exploring all types of verbs and learning how to uses “vivid verbs” in our writing. In writing, we are working on an informative writing project.

Content – Although we will be starting a new marking period, we will still be digging into earth science for a little bit. This coming week we will explore the layers of soil and different types of rocks.

Spelling – We took the Lesson 15 test on Friday. Graded tests and a new list were sent home. Our next test will be this coming Friday.

Love

I will post a full blog post this weekend, but just had to say that I wish the world could be full of people just like my third graders! In guided reading, we are learning about the Underground Railroad, Rosa Parks, and Harriet Tubman. We also spent a lot of time today learning about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I have been blown away by the conversations that we have had and the genuine love and compassion that have been expressed by this sweet group of kids. You are raising some pretty fabulous little humans!!

Our Week in 3-B

It seems like it has been forever since I have been with my sweet third graders! I am ready for a full week with them.

Here is a look at our week ahead:

Monday: Music

Tuesday: PE

Wednesday: Art

Thursday: Library/Book Exchange

Friday: Music

**Important Note: Due to the snow days last week, we will have school this Friday. There will be NO school on Tuesday, January 16th.**

Math – We will finish Chapter 9 this week. My goal is for the students to take the chapter test on Thursday and then complete test corrections on Friday. We will begin Chapter 10 the following week.

ELA  РStudents will bring home new vocab and spelling lists tomorrow. We will take both tests on Friday. We will be starting a new writing project this week.

Content – We will continue to work through our Earth Science Unit as we approach the end of the marking period.

Enjoy the last day of this extra long weekend!
