2-M News Update!

Well, we were lucky for so long with the winter weather, I guess it had to catch up with us at some point! Because we had off on Thursday, school will now be in session Friday, February 15. Also, we were not ready for our Spelling test today- the list this week is tricky- so we are keeping the same list to test next Friday, February 8, 2019

Report cards come home today! I am so proud of the hard work all of the students are doing! I am sure you are, too! Please sign the front of the envelope and return it on Monday. The only paper insert that needs to be returned is the Parent Communication sheet. The other papers are for you to keep at home.

A class list is coming home Monday in case your child would like to participate in a Valentine Exchange on Thursday, February 14.  Please help your child to be sure they have a card for every child. Thank you!

Week of January 14

We have a busy week ahead in 2M- but it is a short one! Please note school is closed Friday, 1/18 and Monday, 1/21. Boxtops are being collected for PTO this week. Today I sent home three papers about different breathing strategies we have practiced in class to help us calm down when we feel upset. I hope you find them useful at home as well. The Spelling words that came home tonight are extra tricky for second grade. Since we have a 4 day weekend, these words won’t be tested until 1/25. Please have your child practice every night! Thank you!

Gingerbread Houses Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is our big day! We will be decorating gingerbread houses in our classroom at 2:45.

You must stop and sign in at the office before coming to our classroom. If you are taking your child home with you after the houses are finished, an orange pick up note is required. Be sure to also list any siblings you may also be taking home as well!  I am sending a blank orange note in each child’s folder tonight just in case they need it.

*The office staff is asking that even children who are picked up every day and never ride the bus have an orange note as well for tomorrow, just so they can be sure to have all the 2M pick up students organized on one list!*

We take the dismissal process very seriously, it is a safety concern that every child is accounted for at all times.

Thank you for your understanding! Thank you also for your wonderful donations of supplies! Tomorrow will surely be a very fun day!

December is Here!

I can’t believe we are starting a whole new month in Grade 2! This school year is really flying by!   New reading calendars were sent home today. The Character Traits for December are Courtesy and Manners.  Our special activity for the holidays will be decorating gingerbread houses. You can use the link below if you’d like to donate some candy for us to use! You are welcome to join your child on Thursday, December 20 at 2:45 if you’d like to help them decorate their house.                                                                                  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0E44AFAB23A13-gingerbread

School Climate Survey

November 6, 2018

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Research suggests that a positive school climate can support student success.

This year, Central Manor Elementary School has again decided to gather data on students’, staff, and parents’ perceptions of the school climate. This data will help the school leadership team and staff continue to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement.

Please let us know what you think by completing an anonymous survey at:

www.paschoolclimatesurvey.org

When you reach the survey website, please look for the “CLICKING HERE” hyperlink near the top of the web page.

Invitation Code  BYTRD1

The survey will be open until Friday, November 16, 2018.  We plan to have several locations set up throughout the school on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 during parent/teacher conferences.  Please look for a computer in the office, downstairs lobby by the playground doors, and/or in the beach area in or K-2 wing of the building.  Another option is to complete this survey at home on your personal computer.

Please help us improve the school climate by taking 5-10 minutes to complete this survey.   Families with multiple students, please take this survey one time only.  If you choose to complete the survey, please send in a brief note to the office stating you did so.  Your name will be entered into a random drawing to win gift cards to local stores.  Several winners will be chosen.

Sincerely,

Brian Malek & Michele Transue

Happy Monday!

It was dreary outside today… but not inside 2M! Here are a few reminders for the week:

We will visit the Book Fair on Wednesday during our Library time. If you choose to send money with your child, please put it in a bag or envelope with their name on it- just in case it gets misplaced. Thanks!

We have early dismissal on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week due to parent conferences. I look forward to meeting with all of you and sharing the great progress your children are making. See you then!

Weekly Update 10/29

Thank you so much for sending all of the decorated pumpkins in! They look amazing! I truly appreciate the time you spent with your child creating their masterpiece!

A few schedule reminders: No school on Friday, November 2 for Teacher Inservice. Early dismissal at 1:30 for November 7, 8 and 9 for Parent Teacher Conferences. The Book Fair will be running in the library throughout next week.  Our class will visit the Fair during our Library time on November 7. If you choose to send money with your child, please put it in a bag or envelope with their name on it. Thank  you!

One more note about names… please put your child’s name on their coats, hats, etc  This makes it so much easier to have them returned to you if they are misplaced. Thank you!
