Math– We just finished our first Unit of Math and took the Chapter 1 Math Test- the students did great!! Â I will be sending the tests home tomorrow.
*I am sure you’ve heard, but I introduced the kids to First In Math… a website that helps with their math facts. This is an easy and fun way to practice basic math facts. The kids have their own user name and password so they can get on at school or home. They LOVE it!
Writing– We have been learning how to write narratives, including the characters, setting, plot (who, what, where, when) and the beginning, middle, end. The kids are really enjoying this!
Spelling- The Spelling Test for Lesson 3 will be this Wednesday, September 30. Thanks for all of the support at home with studying/homework! 🙂
Reading- Last week in Reading we met Henry and Mudge. We also learned a new game called “I HAVE WHO HAS” to practice our robust vocabulary words… ask your child about this. 🙂 They LOVE it! We started guided reading groups on Thursday and the students did amazing! I was so impressed with how well they worked at their stations while I was reading with a group at the back table. We will start using the computers during guided reading as one of the stations, so if your child has headphones/ear buds feel free to send them to school!
Social Studies– We have been learned about the seven continents- this week the students will learn about the oceans surrounding the continents.
If you have any questions/concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me. I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and like always, I am looking forward to seeing your kiddos tomorrow morning! 🙂
