WOW! What an AMAZING first day of 1st grade! I have such a special group of kids- I am SO looking forward to getting to know them more! I feel like the luckiest teacher! 🙂

A few fun things we did today! …

  1. Drew a picture of something fun we did over the summer (got to share this with some friends)
  2. Morning meeting (greeting one another, calendar, days of school, the weather, counting, and reviewed letters and sounds)
  3. Went on a tour of the school
  4. ATE LUNCH IN THE CAFETERIA… WAHOO! Full day!
  5. I read “The Day the Crayons Quit” – what a fun story! Ask your kiddo about it! 🙂
  6. Reviewed our jobs… each child has a VERY important responsibility 🙂
  7. Started our “All About Me” poster- these will be up in the hallway soon! 🙂
  8. Went outside for some RECESS
  9. Did some ice breakers to get to know each other
  10. Had an assembly introducing the 7 HABITS
  11. Had a little bit of Music Class!

WOW! Such a fun-filled day! I sent home a BLUE folder with each child. There is a “Return to School” side and “Keep at Home” side. This folder will go home with the kiddos every day and brought back to school EVERY DAY. Please look over each paper and return the papers in the “Return to School” side. Thanks! Also… Thank you SO much for all of the donations! I appreciate you all so much and am SO looking forward to meeting you! Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Welcome! :)

Parent and Student,

Hello! My name is Mrs. Smith (I was Miss Brill last year :)). I am SO excited to be your 1st grade teacher! It’s going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures! I cannot wait to see what the year has in store for us! 🙂 I want to know ALL about you but first I am going to tell you a little bit about me.

I recently got married (June 9) to the most wonderful guy! That was definitely the highlight of my summer. 🙂 I grew up in Lancaster with my amazing family. I have two older sisters and one brother. A super fun fact is that I went to Hambright Elementary School when I was your age! How fun! I graduated from Temple University. At Temple, I earned my degree in Early Childhood Education and played soccer for the Temple Women’s Soccer Team. I couldn’t wait to graduate and start teaching. I have been attending church at LCBC for the last 15 years!

In the last 3 years, I have taught Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade. I cannot tell you how excited I am to be back teaching 1st grade! All of the students I’ve taught are extremely important and special to me. I take an interest in my students outside of the classroom as well. I have attended many sporting events for my students in the past; if you are interested in me watching a sport you play please let me know. 🙂 I believe that everyone brings something special to the classroom and I cannot wait to see what YOU bring to our classroom.

I am THRILLED to be your teacher! This is going to be a FANTASTIC year! 🙂
