Weekly News: December 3-6

I hope you are still enjoying your holiday weekend like I am! But it’s time to start thinking about CHRISTMAS! It will be here before we know it. We do several Christmas themed activities. One will be Christmas Around the World. Each day we will “travel” to a different country and explore what traditions children in those countries do for Christmas.

Another activity the kids LOVE is a Christmas Mystery Reader. For 12 school days, we would love to have a family member come in and read their favorite story to our class. Read the information below, then click on the link to sign up. This is for parents, grandparents, and siblings (yes, if they have a sibling that attends CM we work with their teacher to get them into our class to read a book!)

12 Days of Christmas Mystery Readers

A fun surprise for our students is when we have mystery readers come and share a book with us. Please consider coming in for one of our 12 Days of Mystery Readers and sign up for a time. You do not need to have your clearances for this event, as it is a one time, short session, and you will not be working with students one to one. Please bring in your favorite Christmas story to read to the class, or borrow one of my books when you get there. Remember we are a public school and do not read religious books at Christmas.

In Math we will work on learning our teens numbers, writing, counting, and recognizing our teens in ten frames. Handwriting we continue with our lower case letters, and in language arts continue sight word work and phonemic awareness.
