Weekly News: April 5 – 9
I hope your family had a fun Spring Break. We return to school on Monday, April 5. This week we begin our fun Earth Science unit. We continue to learn how to read and the elements of a story. (Characters, Setting, Beginning, Middle, End, Problem and Solution.) Please send back any reading materials EACH DAY so we can move along in our guided reading times.
Rainbow Words: We have covered all 25 kindergarten sight words to be mastered by the end of kindergarten and are working on the exposure words of first grade. Here is the list of the words in their “rainbow” color. If you need a new set of cards, please let me know. To help with testing and moving to the next color, students may record themselves on Seesaw. (Without my awesome parent helpers this year, I can’t get to all of the kids in a timely manner to move them on. I miss my parent helpers!)
Red: I, a, at, an, am, can, as, my
Orange: the, go, no, so, to, like, he, we
Yellow: me, come, on, here, this, it, in, is
Green: if, for, where, do, you, look, one, see
Blue: what, two, up, down, want, out, who, are
Purple: they, she, good, and, there, little, give, that
White: have, said, yes (yep, there are only three)
Those students that master all of the “Rainbow Words” can move on to First Grade Rainbow Words.
Friday, April 23, Early Dismissal. PM Kindergarten attends 9:00 – 1:30. No school for AM Kindergarten this day.
