January 3 – 7
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a chance to relax and recover from the week that seem to fly by! Thank you again for all of the lovely cards and gifts! I got a few surprises for the kids with the generous gift cards! (New art supplies, and bean bag chairs!) To get our week started, students may bring a favorite toy that they may have received over the last week. We will have a Show and Tell and then write about our toy and what we did on our week off. I hope you were impressed with the writing packet that came home last week. I know I am!
Monday, January 3: Toy Day
Monday, January 17: No School, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Friday, January 21: No School, In-service Day for Teachers
Kindergarten will get their first official report card at the end of the month. I am testing as much as I can this month. If your child is having difficulty in an area, I will reach out to you and let you know what you can do to help them at home. (Consider it homework.)
This month you can expect some homework coming home every few days. We begin our Rainbow Sight Word work. Students will have a packet of cards with sight words on them. Once they master a color of the rainbow, they will move on to the next color. Tomorrow I will give out our RED cards and start working with those words in our lessons. We also begin reading groups. Books will come home to be read to an adult and returned to school the next day.
Parent Volunteers: I will reach out to those that have their clearances completed and schedule times for you to come in. I need your help with working on the sight words, math concepts, reading and handwriting with all students, but you will work with them one on one for a few minutes. If Penn Manor has recently let you know that your clearances are on file with the district, please let me know. Here is the link to get your clearances. It is FREE…it just takes a little time to complete them.
