Be on the Lookout!

This letter came home in your child’s home folder. Be on the lookout. Shhhhhh….it’s supposed to be a surprise!!

Dear 3rd Grade Families,

As you are aware, your child will take the PSSA tests in April.  Your child has been doing a lot of work getting ready to show what they know!  We also know that you have been helping your child at home by showing your continued support, encouraging your child to do their best work, supporting your child with homework and so much more!

We have one more favor to ask…one we think your child will love!  Think back to when you were a child…remember that ‘I can do anything’ feeling you got when your parents left you a special note on the kitchen table or in your lunch box…we want to repeat that feeling for your child in school during the PSSA test to pump them up and let them know that you believe in them and want them to do their best!!

Enclosed you will find five index cards. We would like you to write an encouraging message to your child.  One message will be given to him/her each morning before the test.  Having them believe that WE ALL KNOW that they will do their best will be very powerful.

Some ideas you could write include:

*Show what you know – do your best!

*Take your time, re-read, and check your work.

*You are such a hard worker…show it on the test!

*Remember to highlight and reread the directions!

*I am so proud of you!

Since this is so special, we want the messages to be a SURPRISE for your child.  Please return these seven messages in a sealed envelope with your child’s name on the front by Wednesday, April 13th.

Again, thank you for your continued support and the daily encouragement you give your child.
