I am so proud of how hard these kiddos continue to work on the PSSA tests. Their commitment and perseverance throughout testing has been truly admirable. Just a reminder that we do have a spelling test this Friday 4/26, reading logs are also due next Thursday 5/1.
I hope you all had a wonderful week and were able to enjoy the beautiful weather. Report cards and progress reports will be coming home today. Only one more marking period left in this school year, isn’t that crazy to think about! Just a reminder, the yellow envelopes needs to be signed and returned.
New spelling lists will be coming home today. Our test is scheduled for 4/26. I am allowing for an extra week of practice for these words due to our modified PSSA schedule as well as not wanting to put too much emphasis on homework on PSSA testing days.
Reading logs are due May 1st, the class voted last week on their incentive. All students who turn in an April log to me will earn extra recess!
Next week we will be doing some Earth Day activities. If you are able to salvage an empty/clean aluminum can (from soup, canned beans, canned veggies, etc.) and send it in with your child before Thursday 4/18, we will be reusing them for a craft.
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Our students will be taking the PSSA starting next week with ELA testing occurring April 15-17, Math April 24-25, and Science (4th graders only) April 30-May 1. Pequea will be taking a “show what you know” approach as we aim to prepare our children for the upcoming testing. My goal is to encourage your children to do their best and work hard while taking these tests without having them feel overwhelmed. I plan to explain to your children that they have shown me so much growth and progress, in so many different ways, already throughout this school year, and the PSSA is just another opportunity for them to show how much they have grown from last year to this year. These statewide tests also help our district identify ways we can improve our curriculum and programming for all of our Penn Manor families. Following testing on these days our classroom will have a modified schedule. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s specific accommodations.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I just wanted to touch base about a few things going on this week. Reading logs are due tomorrow. It looks like it is going to be a nice day so those students that have their log to turn in to me tomorrow will join me outside for some relay race fun. Tuesday night from 6-8 is our school art show, all students will have work on display. We will be having our bi-weekly spelling test this Friday 4/5. Please let me know if you need another spelling list sent home. Also happening Friday after school at 6:30 is our school Family Bingo Night. Looking ahead, report cards will come home next Monday 4/8.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need any more information.
It feels good to finally have some consistency back in our schedule, and by the looks of the weather we are hoping to keep it that way! Just a few things to keep on your radar…
