It is hard to believe we welcomed Fall at the end of last week when we had summer like temps this weekend! I am ready for the cooler weather….!
Here is what is happening in Mrs. O’Donnell’s class this week…
*Remember- we have Picture Day on Tuesday!
In Math… we will be wrapping up Chapter 2 this week with a review on Monday followed by our Chapter 2 test on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we will be starting Chapter 3. This week, we will learn how division and multiplication are related, how to carry out division with and without remainders, and use basic facts and patterns to divide multiples of 10, 100, and 1,000 mentally. Homework this week will be Spiral Review!
*We will be taking our Math CDTs on Tuesday September 26th at the end of the day in our homeroom classes.
In Social Studies… we will have our last day of Social Studies on Monday. We will go over our Social Studies test and create interactive (web based) quizzes in groups using a website called Kahoot.
(Because of CDTs, my students will go to Mrs. Purzycki’s class to start their Science Unit on Wednesday.) The unit they will begin with will be Animal/Plant Cells.
In ELA…we will finish Theme 3 (“Chang and the Bamboo Flute”) on Tuesday. We will have our vocab assessment on Monday and our focus skill and comprehension assessments on Tuesday. Students have been working on Musician Research Projects using a website called Canva to create online posters. We will wrap these projects up at the beginning of the week. We will also complete a Character Motive Mobile on a character within our story. We will begin Theme 4 ( “The Daring Nellie Bly”) on Wednesday and be introduced to a new set of vocab words. We will work on the same focus skill: Character Motives. We will wrap the week up with a Nellie Bly Web Quest to learn more about her as an extension to our Storytown story. Our new vocab words will be eccentric, crusaded, impassable, infuriated, relented, disheartened, faze
In Spelling…Spelling Packets for Lesson 4 are due this Friday 9/29. Our test will also be this Friday 9/29. The spelling list is activated on spelling city so please encourage your children to study their words through this website (if they have access to a computer at home) This is a fun and interactive way to learn their spelling words.
Our spelling words for this week are…..talked, hurried, smiling, dropped, clapping, stepped, worried, worrying, changing, stayed, buying, dried, picnicking, scared, driving, obeyed, playing, tried, carried, hurrying
We LOVE learning on our laptops! My students are enjoying completing assignments in our ELA, Social Studies, and Writing Google Classrooms!
