The Week of 12/11…

 

Here is what is happening in Mrs. O’Donnell’s classroom this week…

In Math… we will continue with Chapter 7 this week and learn how to solve problems by working backwards, figure out what comes next in patterns, and learn about ordered pairs. On Tuesday, we will take our Chapter 4-6 Benchmark and on Wednesday we will have a quiz on the lessons we have learned so far in Chapter 7.

In Social Studies… I will continue Revolutionary War unit with Mrs. P’s kiddos this week. We will be covering the Battle of Bunker Hill, the 2nd Continental Congress and Valley Forge.

In ELA…we will continue and finish with Lesson 11 this week “Sailing Home”. We will be comparing and contrasting this story to a paired text this week. We will be doing a fun hands on activity mid week that involves comparing and contrasting using Cootie Catchers! On Wednesday we will take our Vocab assessment. Thursday begins our new Lesson “The Ultimate Field Trip”. We will continue working on comparing and contrasting as our focus skill, however will be introduced to new vocab words. This lesson is tested and will include a TDA.

In Spelling…Spelling Packets for Lesson 13 are due this Friday 12/15.  Our test will also be this 12/15.  The spelling list is activated on spelling city so please encourage your children to study their words through this website (if they have access to a computer at home) This is a fun and interactive way to learn their spelling words.  https://www.spellingcity.com/users/mrsodonnell007

The Week of 12/4…

I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend and is ready for the 3 full weeks of school ahead before our holiday break begins! December is going to go by so fast!

Here is what is happening in Mrs. O’Donnell’s classroom this week…

In Math… we will review for our Chapter 6 Test on Monday and Tuesday. Our test will be on Wednesday. We will begin Chapter 7 on Thursday: Order of Operations.

In Social Studies… I will continue Revolutionary War unit with Mrs. P’s kiddos this week. (We will not have content on Tuesday – do to the holiday concert)

In ELA…we will finish our Reader’s Theater Lesson 10 on Monday. Students will perform their plays to the class.  We will take our vocab assessment on Tuesday for this lesson. We will begin Lesson 11 “Sailing Home” with a set of new vocab words and a new focus skill. We will work on comparing and contrasting within the content of the text for this lesson.

In Grammar…we will do three lessons this week working on simple tenses. We will learn about present, past, and future tenses within sentences. We will have a grammar test on these concepts on Friday.
