The Week of 2/5…

A 2 hour delay was a great surprise for all of those who stayed up to see the Eagles become Superbowl Champions last night! I will have many happy students this week! (Although I am not an Eagles fan- GO GIANTS!- I am so happy for my family, friends, and students who are!)

Here is what is happening in Mrs. O’Donnell’s classroom this week…

In Math… we will review for our Chapter 9 assessment at the beginning of the week and taking our test on Wednesday. We will begin Chapter 10 with learning how to estimate products of fractions using compatible numbers and rounding and learn how to multiply fractions with whole numbers.

In Social Studies… this week we will continue with our government unit by starting a project with the 10 amendments of the Bill of Rights. On Thursday we will do our first official Mystery Hangout with another class. I wonder where they will be from??

In ELA…we will continue with Lesson 16 “A School Story” this week by rereading the story, taking our vocab assessment on Wednesday, and practicing our inferencing skills.  We will be taking our ELA CDTs on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. The data that is collected from these computer based test give us useful information about what objectives still need to be worked on this year.

In Grammar…we will learn all about pronouns this week!

In Spelling…Spelling Packets for Lesson 18 are due this Friday 2/9.  Our test will also be on 2/9.  Spelling words are getting harder and harder each week. Spelling packets may be getting more difficult as well. Packets of the definitions and examples of each spelling word are always available for your students to take home to help them complete their packets.  The spelling words this week are….

courteous, hazardous, humorous, monstrous, porous, curious, furious, glorious, delirious, fictitious, gracious, ambitious, discourteous, dangerous, anxious, spontaneous, religious, delicious, mountainous, ridiculous
