Dear Fifth Graders,
I just want to say what an honor it was to be your teacher this year. Our year together was not supposed to end the way it did however I am so proud of each and every one of you because you showed perseverance and resilience through this time. You missed out on a field trip, the 5th grade spelling bee, olympic day, and so many memories we were all supposed to have together. However, instead of focusing on what we lost lets focus on something else. What did you gain from this experience? Time with your family?Time creating memories with your siblings, pets, parents? More time. Especially more time at home. This summer you will have more time and I want you all to take advantage of that time you have. Set a goal. Start a new hobby. Practice something you never had time to do before. We can look at the past few months as a loss of time. Or we can look at it as a gift. Look at the next few weeks of summer as a gift. Enjoy it. Embrace it. Learn from it. And Don’t worry- I will see you next year. Each and every one of you. And I will always be your teacher. Even though you won’t physically be in my classroom or have a clip on my chart or a punch card with your name on it. I will always be your teacher. Come visit me next year. Be my student. Let me help you in any way I can next year. Always. I love you all and I have been missing you all a lot. Please email me this summer, send me pictures of what you are doing with your time. You are all ready to be 6th graders and I can’t wait to watch you grow next school year. And always remember you can do hard things.
Parents- thank you for being such a support system for your children and me through this all. Please enjoy the summer as well!
See you next year friends 🙂
