Reading A & B- Looking Back– We finished our spy unit and kicked off unit 4 by reviewing point of view and perspective before beginning our next novel, Nothing But the Truth. Looking Forward- Students will analyze how a character’s point of view contributes to the plot of a text. It is an engaging story that will challenge students to examine the whole truth and how perspective affects it. There will be short comprehension check ups throughout the book and our unit assessment will be the week of March 9th. *Please continue to encourage your child to be reading for at least 15 minutes each evening to work toward the reading challenge of 40 books. This is their daily reading homework.
Science- Looking Back- We have used the scientific process to observe chemical reactions. We then learned about different ways matter is characterized and began to experiment with mass, volume and density. Looking Forward- Students will continue to investigate the relationship with mass, volume, and density and finish by learning about the conservation of mass. Students will have a quiz on matter on Wednesday, 2/26(6S) or Thursday, 2/27(6F) and our chemistry unit assessment will be March 5th (6S) and March 6th(6F). Our next unit will be Physics. *Remember quizlet is a great way to study for science.
Writing- Looking Back-We enjoyed a wonderful celebration of the cultures around the world with students sharing great food, musical presentations, foreign language lessons, and dance. We have begun to choose topics for a persuasive writing assignment and students are choosing some very important topics. Looking Forward- We will be working in groups to write persuasively on the important topics students chose and will learn about writing a strong claim, supporting it with convincing evidence, and writing a counterargument.
