Mr. Zapata (Spanish)

Mr. Zapata is originally from Colombia, South America, but he considers New Holland, PA, to be his hometown.  He graduated from Garden Spot High School and from Shippensburg University with a BS in Education.  He has also earned his Master’s degree in Education Administration from Shippensburg.  Mr. Zapata has taught at Penn Manor since 2002.

Mr. Zapata chose to teach Spanish because he has always wanted to be a teacher.  Growing up, he forgot his native language and didn’t know much about his background and culture, so he thought it would be neat to put those two things together with teaching.  His favorite things about teaching are sharing personal culture stories with the students and teaching grammar.

Mr. Zapata enjoys coaching soccer, golfing, skiing, watching sports on TV, spending time with his family: his wife, Meg, his son, Aaron, and his daughter Madeline.  His family also includes two King Charles Cavalier Spaniels, Lucy and Shelby.

An interesting and little-known fact about Mr. Zapata is that he is the youngest of 10 children!
