Frau Smith attended Friedrich Rückert Gymnasium (Ebern, Germany), Otto Friedrich Universität (Bamberg, Germany), and Millersville University.
She says, “I chose to become a teacher because I enjoy being around young people. I love seeing students learn. I love to help students believe in themselves and their academic skills, and watch them succeed. I always remember what helped me when I was a student and I try to include these techniques in my classroom. It gives me great pride to help shape students into well rounded individuals.”
Frau Smith has taught at Penn Manor since 2004. She chose to teach German “because I am German. I grew up in Germany and moved to America when I was 21 years old. When growing up in Germany, I wanted to become an English teacher. When I came to America I thought it would be a great idea to share my language, culture, experience, and life stories with American students – so I became a German teacher.”
Frau Smith enjoys reading, traveling, the outdoors, shopping, and spending time with friends and family.
Her travel experiences include trips to Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, England, Belgium, Canada, America. Growing up in Europe gave her the great opportunity to travel to many places, since the surrounding countries are relatively close by. Her future goal is to explore America further.
