Math and Science

Today in math we continued to learn about tens and ones but we related it to pennies and dimes. Many kids at this age have trouble identifying the coins ;especially when there is NO color. We looked at the coins closely to help us distinguish between the 2 coins. We watched these utubes and did a penny maze and dime maze to help us with this concept.

Today in science we continued to talk about the three types of matter. We focused on gases today. We did a simple experiment by combining baking soda and vinegar. I attached a balloon filled with baking soda to a water bottle filled with vinegar. The student observed the balloon filling up with a gas we call carbon dioxide. We discussed how when we mixed a liquid with a solid we created a gas and also how matter takes up space even though we do not always see it!
