Updates for May 25

  • Today, students brought home the Summer Reading Packets from Martic as well as the Quarryville Library. Students can keep reading going all summer and earn prizes by recording what they read. Students also brought home sunflower seeds to plant. Sunflowers may be entered in the West Lampeter Fair in September.
  • Tomorrow we will have an ice cream party to celebrate the hard work the students completed for ice cream math! Thank you for helping your child with their facts this year!

Updates for May 22

  • Today Mrs. Keller, PM Technology Specialist, joined our class and helped us create and a special project. Students used coding in order to program robot bees to do the waggle dance like bees do in real life. We studied bees as part of our science curriculum, and it was amazing to put those skills to work!
  • Tomorrow is our last Book Exchange. Please help your child remember to return their books tomorrow.
  • Wednesday, May 24 is House Color Day. Students are encouraged to wear their house shirt or color.
  • 6th grade students will continue to host their Carnival for a Cause during lunch recess on Wednesday, May 24. Students are invited to bring quarters to school if they wish to play the games at recess. All money will be donated to Water for South Sudan, an organization that supplies clean water to people who need it.

    • Please remember to help your child dress for the weather; the trip is rain or shine. Students should wear closed-toed shoes, sneakers, or hiking boots. Students will be taking a nature hike, so long pants are recommended.
    • Also, students who did not order a packed lunch from the cafeteria will need to bring a disposable lunch. We are looking forward to enjoying a day of exploration with our Martic friends and meeting our pen pals from Letort Elementary!

Reminders
  • Students brought home White Spruce Saplings and informational packets today! As part of our Earth and Life Science studies encompassing plant and tree growth, erosion, and soil content and health, we were given the opportunity to receive saplings through the Seedlings for Schools program. Seedlings for Schools is a partnership program of the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Howard Nursery and the Wildlife for Everyone Foundation. Please keep the roots of the sapling wet and plant the sapling as soon as possible. How wonderful for our 3rd graders to have the experience of watching their trees grow along with them!
  • Field trip information was sent home with students last week.  Please make sure to review this information and return the permission slip and lunch choice form at your earliest convenience. If interested in being a parent chaperone, please also return this form as well. The deadline for these forms to be returned is Tuesday, May 2.
  • Tomorrow, Friday, April 28, will be the last day for the ELA PSSA. Math PSSAs will be held on May 2 and 5.
