Mrs. Piatt’s Weekly Newsletter

What are we learning this week?

English Language Arts (ELA): Last week, we spent time reading a non-fiction story, “Mountains” and completed two columns on a related prompt. I am amazed each time that we complete these two column notes at just how well the students do with this high level reading and writing task. We will “fine tune” and “dig deeper” into our inferencing and analyzing skills as we move into the second semester. This week, we’ll review non-fiction text features and text structures as we prepare to take our Unit 3 assessment.

Math: We will take our test on fractions, then continue to our next unit on adding and subtracting fractions.

Social Studies: We will continue to learn about map skills and dig deeper into the landforms and map skills related to Pennsylvania.
