Hi 4P Families! Here we are with another snowy Sunday! It’s Valentine’s Day week! Just a reminder that all valentines should be sent to school no later than Tuesday. Any valentines that come in late will be sent home at a later time after they sit for a couple of days. Valentines and any store bought treats will be coming home with your child on Friday. Please look through and approve any of the treats that your child has brought home. Also, report cards were sent home on Friday!
**Virtual Assembly – On Tuesday, we will have a virtual NED assembly on growth mindset. As part of this assembly, your child will have the opportunity to purchase a NED yo-yo and/or accessories. Click on the form below to learn more about the assembly message and for the order form. Yo-yos will be sold Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Math – Most of the Chapter 8 math tests were sent home on Friday. There are a few that will come home tomorrow after we make test corrections in class. Another great test for so many students!
ELA – We will continue to dig deeper into drawing conclusions and inferences this week with some mentor texts. We will also read a story, “The Stranger” that will have us drawing conclusions. In grammar, we continue to learn about different kinds of adjectives, then we will move on to adverbs.
Content – We will continue to learn about energy and then begin to learn about electricity this week.

*Valentine’s Day Exchange – We are excited to announce that we will be exchanging valentines this year. If your 4th grader chooses to exchange valentines, he or she must give a valentine to every student in our classroom. For the safety of all students in 4th grade, any food or candy item included with the valentines must be store bought and individually wrapped. Other non-edible items may also be attached to the valentines. Examples include pencils, erasers, sticker books, etc. All valentines must be brought to school by Tuesday, February 9th. Any valentines that are received after that day will be delivered the following week. We will open valentines at the end of the day on Friday, 2/12. If your 4th grader is choosing to exchange valentines, I’m encouraging students to bring the valentines in as soon as possible. The earlier, the better! All treats will be coming home, I will provide a treat that the students can enjoy in school that day. I also have extra valentine packs, please have your 4th grader email or see me if he/she needs a pack of cards to hand out.
*Yearbook Photos – The Central Manor yearbook committee needs your help! If you have any pictures that you have taken of your 4th grader from this school year that you would be willing to have included in the yearbook, the committee is asking parents to sent pictures to the following email address: centralmanorphotos@gmail.com. Pictures could include artwork/projects that your 4th grader has made, he/she completing homework, sitting at the computer, playing in the snow, and so on.
*Supplies – Many students are running low or have exhausted their supply of glue sticks and dry erase markers. We use these things daily! If you are able to check in with your 4th grader to see if he/she could use some replacements, that would be fabulous! Thank you for your help!
