Finally Fall- Week of 10/7 updates…

Welcome to October, 5L families! I can’t believe we are at the mid point in marking period 1! Last week was a busy one but ended with an amazing event on a gorgeous day to raise money for our students and school through Race for Education. Thank you so much for all the generous donations. CM PTO has done an amazing job with this fundraiser! We are very lucky to have such a excellent group of parents to work with! The final dates for donations will be 10/18. Please be sure to share the date with possible donors. See the candid photos below from the event.

Box Tops are due tomorrow, 10/7! Please send in any box tops you may have laying around the house. Every little bit counts!

On Friday, conference request forms were sent home with each student. Please be sure to return those to school at your earliest convenience. It is extremely important and helpful in the planning of upcoming parent-teacher conferences, the first week of November.

We will begin switching for content with Mr. Birch’s class this week. Students will begin the science unit for the first marking period, as we have wrapped up the social studies unit on the 13 colonies. Final tests will be coming home in Monday folders!

Reading calendars for October will also be coming home on Monday! I apologize for the delay. Feel free to sign for days from last week, as well. I will also be sending home October Scholastic Book Club order forms. Please feel free to also go online and place an order. It is not too early for holiday shopping at a great price! (If you plan to do some holiday shopping, please let me know and I will set your order aside when handing out the orders. We can arrange pickup. )

Last week, we finally began our EI block with the new program, Word Generations. We are excited to pilot this program this year. It is our hope to build on the academic language in each student through reading, writing, and speaking. On Friday, last week, lesson 6 spelling packet was handed out. It is a 2-week packet and will not be tested or due back completed until 10/18.
