Hello November and 2nd Marking Period!

Where is the year going? Wow, I can’t believe we are already moving through November. Our year together is moving quickly!

This week is a bit crazy with our schedule. Just a reminder that conferences will be held this week on Wednesday and Thursday for students in 5L. I’m looking forward to meeting with you all. I want to thank you all in advance for your time to meet. Please double check your time for conferences and contact me with any questions or concerns. I will do my absolute best to stick to the 15 minute time slot, as I respect your time is precious and some of you may need to then move to another conference from my room. I will see you all soon.

This week, CM is also hosting the Scholastic Book Fair. 5L will visit the book fair tomorrow, Tuesday during our Library Instruction time. We will be there from 10:35-11:20. If you’d prefer to not send in cash with your child, there is another way. You may use ewallet. To learn more, click the link below.

As we move fully into the 2nd marking period, you may hear your child discuss more about TDA writing. This is the marking period I will focus mainly on diving into TDA writing, breaking down a prompt, gathering supports, and organizing the final TDA. We will also be moving into our book clubs very soon. I’m looking forward to diving into some great books with the class this year.

We will continue with the spelling lists, as well as have the super speller option available. Again, some spelling packets will span 2 weeks, if the week is short or as we wind down the marking period. Most of the packets will remain a 1-week packet.

We are wrapping up the division chapter, in math. We will soon be moving into working with fractions. The next marking period will be filled with lots of fraction work. Here we go!

Social studies will begin again next week. We will begin exploring the Revolutionary War. Science will be put on hold for a few more weeks for marking period 2.
