It’s MU homecoming weekend and time for the Millersville Parade! PMMU will be marching in section “B” for this year’s parade (sections span A-E). The parade kicks off at 9:00am and travels up Herr Ave, left on Landis Ave, left on George St. and finishes by the Student Memorial Center at Millersville University. Students will be walking back to PMHS after the parade to change out of uniforms and put equipment away. Here are some key times:
Band Room Opens – 6:50am
Arrival time at PMHS – 7:15am
Breakfast served for students – 7:30am
Uniforms on – 8:15am
Move outside to parade staging location (along Circle Dr.) – 8:30am
Parade begins – 9:00am
Aprox. PMMU end time – 10:30am
Aprox. pick-up time at PMHS- 11:15am
Parking – please do not park in the normal PMHS parking lot for marching band. Students and chaperones need to park under the parking deck or back by the old tennis courts.
Hey Band – First of all, your performance last evening was spectacular! The crowd reaction spoke for itself and I couldn’t be more proud of everyone. However, we can all agree that last evening was incredibly late – something I would have never predicted. The Millersville parade takes about half the amount of time to complete and the lack of prior PMMU participation at New Holland gave us no warning to the extreme slow pace or reference for time. Because of the late evening, we will end rehearsal tonight at 8:00pm instead of 9:00pm.
PMMU was also given last-minute notification yesterday that we need to perform pre-game and Cedar Crest will perform post-game (homecoming). Because of this change made by Cedar Crest, we will probably arrive back to PM around 11:00pm tomorrow. To accommodate another late night, report time for Saturday’s rehearsal will be 10:00am instead of 9:00am.
This will be the first time in DECADES that PMMU will be performing in the New Holland Parade. I mapped out the parade route so families know where we will be marching. The band will start and end the parade at the park and as you can see, total distance is 2 miles. We will have plenty of water available during the parade to ensure everyone stays hydrated and safe.
It’s MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND NIGHT! Manor and Marticville band students will be joining PMMU to perform the Star Spangled Banner and stand tunes for the football game. Please the document for more details.
Please note that the high school will have NO POWER on Saturday, Sept. 28. Mr. Johnson will have no access to the building, so please be responsible and take home all items needed for Saturday’s rehearsal AT MANOR MS and competition at Warwick HS.
