Winter Track Schedule Update

Hello Penn Manor Jr. High Cross Country Families,

As you may be aware, the High School has switched to remote learning until Thursday, November 18. As a result of this, it has been recommended that we postpone the start of Winter Track until the students resume in-person classes. I will send an update later in the week if we are able to have practice on Thursday.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding. Our main goal is to keep our families safe and healthy during this uncertain time.

If you have any questions, please email me at andrea.kramer@pennmanor.net

Winter Track Schedule

Hello Penn Manor Jr. High Cross Country Families,

Winter Track starts this week for members of the Cross Country team. Here are just a few details to get us started:

The goal over the next few months is to provide training for the Cross Country team to prepare for the Spring Track season, which does not start until March. I will share details about that as they become available.

Practices will be on Tuesdays/Thursdays at Manor Middle School from 3:00-4:45. We will follow the same guidelines that were in place during Cross Country so all athletes should wear a mask, bring their own water, and will have temperature checks before practice. Activity buses will run after school each day. We will meet in the front lobby for the start of practices and everyone should come dressed for the weather since we will be running outside.

Since the weather is quickly changing, any updates/cancellations to our practice schedule will be posted on the blog, through the Remind App, and announced in the schools.

If you have any questions, please contact me at andrea.kramer@pennmanor.net.

Thank you and GO COMETS!!!

Bridge the Gap Results and Season’s End Reminders

Hello Penn Manor Jr. High Cross Country families,

We were on the road bright and early for the Bridge the Gap Invitational. The racing conditions were perfect for today’s race. Even though we were only able to enter part of the team today, there was a strong show of support from other teammates at practices the last week and a half!

Our boys dominated their wave, with Graham Cohick leading the way. Jack Steele and Cole Johnson had breakout performances while Miles Sandt, Vincent Keefer, and Silas Buckwalter finished within one second of each other. Ben Thomas was close behind and helped keep the team’s momentum going. Gage Myers did what he could, running 3/4 of the race with a muscle strain. The boys finished 6th/9 teams today, but there was tight scoring with the 4th and 5th place teams.

Zoe King and Alyssa Eby were the first two finishers for the girls and separated by a mere four seconds. Teammates Reagan Gerlach and Madeleine Rohrer had breakout races of their own today. Addy Martin, Bethany Kramer, and Kaylee Dyer persevered to finish strong. The girls finished 5th/6 teams, but closed the gap with some teams that had beaten them earlier this season.

Season’s End Celebration Reminder: Our party will be this Monday, 10/26, from 3:00-4:30 at Manor Middle School. In case it rains, we are making alternate plans to have the party on Monday. I will update as soon as I can. Please bring uniforms and ropes and wear sneakers for our final Relay Race of the season!

Winter Track Update: We will wait at least two weeks before resuming practice. All team members should take off two full weeks from running to let their muscles have a recovery period before training picks up again. I will give a starting date as soon as I can.

Thank you and GO COMETS!!!

Schedule for Week of 10/19

Hello Penn Manor Jr. High Cross Country families,

We are counting down the days until our Bridge the Gap Invitational on Saturday! We will take advantage of the nice weather to start our race day tapering this week. Tapering refers to gradually reducing the intensity and duration of workouts leading up to the final race of the season. With this in mind, we will switch from a 4:45 end time to 4:30 Monday-Thursday and end by 4:15 on Friday. This will give our athletes plenty of time to relax and prepare for the early start on Saturday. I will give a final update with race day details by mid week.

Monday, 10/19, Practice 3:00-4:30

Tuesday, 10/20, Practice 3:00-4:30

Wednesday, 10/21, Practice 3:00-4:30

Thursday, 10/22, Practice 3:00-4:30

Friday, 10/23, Practice 3:00-4:15

Saturday, 10/24, Bus departs from the front of Manor Middle School at 6:45 am (please arrive by 6:40 so that we can take temperatures and load the bus).

Monday, 10/26, Season’s End Celebration, 3:00-4:30. The Activity bus will run as normal. Please bring uniforms and ropes!

Meet Results and Thank you!

Hello Penn Manor Jr. High Cross Country families,

Today, we concluded our regular season against Manheim Township and Solanco. It was a surprisingly warm day with a bit of a swamp in the middle of the field, but we made it through! The Boys and Girls each came away with wins against Solanco, but Manheim Township proved a little tougher to beat today.

Our point scorers today for the Boys were: Graham Cohick, Miles Sandt, Gage Myers, Silas Buckwalter, and Jack Steele, followed closely behind by Vincent Keefer, Cole Johnson, Aiden Whitfield, Ben Thomas, and Chase Vinson with extra support from Ethan Braegelmann, Riley McKenzie, and Jordan Chen.

The Girls were led by Alyssa Eby, Zoe King, Reagan Gerlach, Addy Martin, and Madeleine Rohrer, followed closely behind by Kaylee Dyer, Bethany Kramer, and Charity Hetrick with extra support from Evelyn Hetrick, Viv Arnold, Olivia Swanson, Jaden Emmert, Willow Hurrell, and Libby McComsey.

This is always the time when we look back and reflect on our season. It will always be one to remember and we are very grateful and fortunate to have had the opportunity to train and race together all of these months. Sportsmanship, personal growth, discipline, enthusiasm, and self-motivation are all part our team goals and philosophy that we work towards all season long. Although we came together as 27 individuals, we are leaving as a complete team unit, guided by these principles.

We cannot thank each family enough for your support and willingness to make every effort to get your child to practice. Our team attendance was amazing! You showed extreme flexibility and understanding with all of the changes, especially with the weekly meet schedules. When we ask our athletes to be committed to the program, we know this request extends well beyond them, and it is the parents who also show the same level of commitment in order for us to be able to achieve the things we have throughout the season.

Coach Taylour and I would also like to say a HUGE thank you for our surprise gifts before the meet today. You are all very kind to think of us and we truly appreciate your overwhelming generosity and it was nice to be surrounded by the team when we received them!

Thank you and GO COMETS!!!
