Missing sweatshirt

Hello Cross Country Families!

I hope you have all enjoyed the chance to slow down and relax after a busy season!

We are still trying to locate a missing sweatshirt from last Saturday. It is a gray one and sized Medium. I am thinking that someone picked it up by accident because I have a Small gray one that was left in one of the bags.

I would appreciate it if you could double check what you have and let me know at andrea.kramer@pennmanor.net so we can make the switch.

Thanks so much and GO COMETS!!!

Iron Bridge Results

Hello Cross Country Families!

It was the muddiest run of the year, but our team stayed positive and persevered! We had two top 30 finishers so a big congratulations to JT Hetrick (12th place) and Abby Ames (26th place). As for team places, the boys came in 7th and the Girls were 11th. Great job competing in our toughest meet of the season!

Considering this was the first season of Cross Country for a majority of our athletes, our future is bright! Coach Taylour and I were extremely impressed with the commitment, sportsmanship, and growth we have seen these last few months. It was a privilege for us to teach, lead, and coach each of your children. Thank you!

We were also extremely grateful to have such a supportive group of parents with helping to coordinate meet snacks, making fruit smoothies, sharing photos, offering a tent to keep us dry, being flexible with last minute meet changes, and bringing your children back and forth to practice all season long. Thank you!

This and That

Please check your gray Penn Manor sweatshirts. One of our team members is missing a size Medium. I have one that is a Small that we think was accidentally switched.

Team uniforms may be handed in tomorrow at our pizza party. It is easiest if you put your child’s name on the bag.

For anyone who is interested in Spring Track, representatives from the Track team will visit schools on the following days to talk more about the program:

February 4, 2019 (Marticville)

February 6, 2019 (Manor)

Final Check-In for 10/13

Hello Cross Country Families!

I wanted to pass on a few, quick reminders for tomorrow.

We will leave from the West Gym tomorrow morning at 6:45. Looking at the forecast, there may be some showers in the area and a morning temperature of 47 degrees. I  recommend dressing in layers and bringing some extra clothes to stay as warm and dry as possible.

Schedule for the day is as follows:

9:00 am Boys Varsity

9:45 am Girls Varsity

10:30 am Boys JV

11:15 am Girls JV

12:00 pm Awards

If you are taking your child home from the meet, please send a note. That way, if you need to leave and Coach Taylour or myself are out on the course, you will not need to wait to find us.

Thank you for all of your support throughout the season!

10/9 Meet Results

Hello Cross Country Families!

Our final meet was another hot and muddy one, but our teams persevered to keep the races tight. Although the Girls and Boys finished behind Manheim Township and McCaskey, they were both within three points of McCaskey!

Abby Ames and JT Hetrick continued their dominance by both winning their races. This is the third first place finish for Abby and the fourth for JT.

Our remaining top eight runners on the day were: Ana Martin, Melanie, Emma, Grace R., Grace F., Libby, Kennedy, Isaac, Aaron, Graham, Kaleb, Liam, Phorest, and Elijah.

While we are still running faster and faster times as a whole team, our biggest PR’s were turned in by Grace B. and Jack. We are speedy!

The remainder of our training will be fine-tuning for the Championship meet on Saturday.

Thank you’s:

I also want to say another huge thank you to Tara and Dan Keefer for coordinating snacks for the meet!

I am most appreciative for those who offered to take team pictures on Saturday. We are going to try to do so quickly at 8:30 am before the races get underway. If anyone is interested in taking pictures throughout the meet, I will forward them to both of the middle schools to possibly use in their yearbooks.

Thank you and GO COMETS!

Iron Bridge Updates

Hello Cross Country Families!

I received information today regarding our Championship meet on Saturday (10/13). Please be aware that there will be over 600 runners from 26 teams so carpooling is highly encouraged, if possible.

Parking: Parking attendants will direct cars. (please come in the entrance right off of Rt. 30). The entrance through the back of the school (Millstream Rd) will be closed as will the Iron Bridge on campus.

Start/Finish Areas: Both are located on the infield of the track (across the wooden bridge).

Results: These will be posted promptly following the races on the track shed, as well as, Milesplit.

Awards: These will be presented to the top 30 individuals from each of the Varsity races. The top 2 teams overall from these races will also receive awards.

T-shirts: These can be purchased near the Concession Stand (near the track) for $18. There are a limited number of t-shirts.

The Course: We have been informed that there are some muddy spots on the course (par for our season!) so this is a reminder to bring extra shoes and socks for the race.

WE ARE READY FOR THE BIG DAY!!! GO COMETS!!!

Weekly Reminders

Hello Cross Country Families!

It’s hard to believe we are heading into our last week of the season, but it has been one filled with many exciting and positive moments for our team! I will share more about this in a wrap up at the end of the season.

In the meantime, our athletes brought home the schedule for this coming week. I wanted to point out a few things…

Since we will not practice on Monday, athletes were given a light workout to do on their own to prepare for Tuesday’s Home Meet.

I mentioned that T-shirts will be sold at Iron Bridge next Saturday, but did not have a confirmed price, but would estimate between $15-$20.

Have a great weekend!

Go, Team, Go!

Hello Cross Country Families!

I want to thank you all for being so flexible today with the last minute schedule change!

Despite racing an hour later than planned, our team did amazingly well and our strong performances today were a total team effort! The Girls and Boys both captured first place finishes led by Abby Ames and JT Hetrick, respectively!

I think we set a new record by having six boys finish within 5 seconds of each other…Aaron, Graham, Kaleb, Elijah, Liam, and Phorest. Additional kudos to Isaac for finishing third overall.

The girls continue to get stronger each week, which is wonderful to see, especially since this is the first cross country experience for many of them. Coming in behind Abby to round out the top 8 were Ana Martin, Emma, Kennedy, Melanie, Grace R., Grace F., and Tayana.

More details will be coming soon regarding our Championship Meet at Iron Bridge (Lancaster Mennonite High School) on Saturday, Oct. 13th. As far as timing, the bus will leave from the West Gym (High School) at 6:45 am so that we can have time to set up and walk the course. Race schedule is as follows: Boys Varsity 9 am, Girls Varsity 9:45 am, Boys JV 10:30 am, Girls JV 11:15 am, Awards 12 pm. Every team member will have the opportunity to run.

Tentative Season’s End Celebration will be on Monday, Oct. 15th at Manor Middle School from 3:00-4:30. More details to follow on that, as well.
