Hello Penn Manor Jr. High Cross Country families,
We were on the road bright and early for the Bridge the Gap Invitational. The racing conditions were perfect for today’s race. Even though we were only able to enter part of the team today, there was a strong show of support from other teammates at practices the last week and a half!
Our boys dominated their wave, with Graham Cohick leading the way. Jack Steele and Cole Johnson had breakout performances while Miles Sandt, Vincent Keefer, and Silas Buckwalter finished within one second of each other. Ben Thomas was close behind and helped keep the team’s momentum going. Gage Myers did what he could, running 3/4 of the race with a muscle strain. The boys finished 6th/9 teams today, but there was tight scoring with the 4th and 5th place teams.
Zoe King and Alyssa Eby were the first two finishers for the girls and separated by a mere four seconds. Teammates Reagan Gerlach and Madeleine Rohrer had breakout races of their own today. Addy Martin, Bethany Kramer, and Kaylee Dyer persevered to finish strong. The girls finished 5th/6 teams, but closed the gap with some teams that had beaten them earlier this season.
Season’s End Celebration Reminder: Our party will be this Monday, 10/26, from 3:00-4:30 at Manor Middle School. In case it rains, we are making alternate plans to have the party on Monday. I will update as soon as I can. Please bring uniforms and ropes and wear sneakers for our final Relay Race of the season!
Winter Track Update: We will wait at least two weeks before resuming practice. All team members should take off two full weeks from running to let their muscles have a recovery period before training picks up again. I will give a starting date as soon as I can.
Thank you and GO COMETS!!!
