Hello Penn Manor Jr. High Cross Country families,
I’m sure many of you heard the update earlier this afternoon regarding the PIAA’s decision to proceed with fall sports. There have been so many positive moments at our optional practices, that we are excited to move ahead with our training and preparations for the season!
Typically, I have a parent meeting once our official season begins to discuss team guidelines and other important details. Since things look a bit different this year, I would like to hold a virtual meeting via Google Meet on Thursday, August 27th at 7 pm. I will send an invitation by the weekend. In the meantime, here are a few more details about what to expect in the coming weeks:
As it stands, our updated schedule remains the same. We are permitted to have 12 boys and 12 girls compete at each meet. This will be one of the things we discuss at the Parent Meeting since we will need to rotate athletes to give everyone the chance to race for Penn Manor.
Activity buses will bring Marticville and High School students to Manor Middle at the end of the school day for practice. We will also leave from Manor Middle for all of our away meets to avoid the limited space and construction at the High School. Athletes will use the locker rooms (for practice and meets) to change as quickly as possible, wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing. Please bring a lock to keep your things secure during practice. Athletes should continue to wear a mask and bring their own water bottle to practice.
Once school begins, we will have the opportunity to practice five days a week. I had previously said we would not practice on Wednesdays, but I am going to offer that day to allow for as many days as possible to train for the season. The attendance policy will be adjusted to accommodate the blended school schedule. We encourage athletes to come to practice as often as possible, but understand if there are conflicts with work schedules and practice times on the days your child is learning from home.
NOTE: PRACTICE TIMES WILL BE 3:00-4:45 PM. DEPARTURE FOR AWAY MEETS WILL VARY SLIGHTLY, BUT ANTICIPATE A DEPARTURE TIME BETWEEN 2:00 AND 2:15, DEPENDING ON THE LOCATION.
Please contact me as questions arise at firstname.lastname@example.org
Have a wonderful weekend and GO COMETS!!!
