Today students brought home karate sight word belts. These can be found in the back of their folder.
In kindergarten we learn sight words. The words we will learn are the most frequently seen words in the books we read. The more successful your child is reading these words, the more successful they will be in reading!
Everyone has been started on the “White Belt.” The color order of belts are: White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Purple, Brown, Pink, and last but not least….The Black Belt! (And an extra question belt if they master all of the belts above).
Students will be tested periodically on their sight words, so please practice these at home. We will aim for 2 Wednesdays a month for “Word Belt Wednesdays”. Once a student is able to identify all of the words (out of order within 3 seconds) on the colored “karate belt” they have, they will receive a new “karate belt” of words! Please help your child be responsible for keeping track of their belts. They will need to be brought to school every day in the back of their folders.
I am so excited to see students move through word belts throughout the year! Feel free to e-mail or call me with any questions.
Please click on the following videos below for instructions on how to login to Seesaw. I will be sending Clever Cards home today with your child. They will be found in the back of their folder with their Seesaw information.
On the Seesaw paper sent home yesterday, it says to download the Seesaw Family App. You will want to download the Seesaw Family App AND the Seesaw Class App. The family app will be for you to view your child’s work and contact me. The class app will be for your child to login and complete their activities.
I apologize for the confusion. Thank you for working through Seesaw together! I really appreciate it.
