4th Grade Personal Safety Program

Dear Fourth Grade Families,

Each year, the Penn Manor Elementary Counselors provide a Personal Safety Program for all fourth grade students.  During this program, we will be using a video entitled, “If It Happens to You: Dealing with Abuse” by Human Relations Media.  Our Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Egan, has approved this video.

We will discuss how to handle verbal and physical abuse, including determining the difference between “OK” and “not OK” touches, learning to trust instincts and feelings, establishing the concept of private areas/zones, being assertive, and asking an adult for help.

The schedule for the 4th grade classes at Conestoga and Martic is as follows:

Mrs. Fisher at Conestoga: Thursday, March 30th from 1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Mehalick at Conestoga: Thursday, March 30th from 1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Davis at Martic:  Tuesday, April 4th from 9:15-9:45 a.m.

Mrs. Showalter at Martic:  Tuesday, April 4th from 9:15-9:45 a.m.

If you would like your child to be excluded from the lesson, please notify one of us in writing no later than the morning of your child’s program.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kimberly Juba, School CounselorMrs. Meridith Eckroat, School Counselor
