Information for Parents of Third Graders

Some of you have asked if I will be working with your child in a reading group this year as I have in the past.  While third grade will have reading groups during their E/I (Enrichment and Intervention) time, I will not be a part of those groups. Many students are showing good growth in reading, so instead, my focus will be on math supports.  I have just started the math group that meets with me in the afternoons during their guided reading time.  This group comes to me instead of doing independent work while small groups are meeting with their teacher.  They are not be missing academic time from the classroom.

If you would like an additional resource to help your child with math, click on the link below to access your child’s math book.

Your child has a username and password. If you do not know the username and password for your child, let me know and I will get it to you.

I especially like to use the purple “speech bubble” icon with this resource.  It’s called “personal tutor.”  It is a very short video of a teacher speaking and explaining the concept for that lesson.  If your child is unsure of the concept taught that day in his/her math class, have your child take a look.

Have a good weekend!
