Monday January 13th – No school for students (teacher in-service)

Monday January 20th – No school in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Friday January 24th – Early Dismissal at 1:30pm

Also, we have been learning about how to leave our MARK at Hambright. Below is some information for upcoming spirit days involving MARK

  • MARK theme days: 
    • 1/10 – Mismatch Day – Each leader at Hambright is unique!  Students can also Make us believe they are a favorite TV character.
    • 1/17 – Animal Day – bring in your favorite stuffed animal/wear animal print
    • 1/24 – Rainbow Day – “Be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud” – choose one bright color to wear to make a rainbow effect in each class.
    • 1/31 – Kingdom of Kindness Month – Disney theme day

Reminder!

Each student needs to bring in icing tomorrow (Wednesday) for our gingerbread house activity. We have received several donations already and we appreciate it!!

Also, tomorrow is a school-wide pajama day. Wear your favorite school-appropriate pj’s to school tomorrow!

Welcome back!

I hope you all had a relaxing Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends. With the holidays approaching, I wanted to share some important dates coming up.

December 11th – Holiday Shop – Please send money in with your student on the 11th is you would like them to participate in the Holiday shop. It is on a cart that will be visiting each classroom. An envelope was sent home a few weeks ago to help your child determine amounts of money to spend on family members.

December 18th – We will be making gingerbread houses as a grade level. A letter will be coming home soon asking for donations. Thank you for your consideration!

December 19th – Mitten Tree items are due. Thank you for participating!

December 20th – Holiday assembly and early dismissal at 1:30pm

School resumes on January 2nd

Please see the message below regarding Hambright’s annual Mitten Tree.

Dear Families,
Our annual Mitten Tree will be set up in the Hambright lobby. Let’s synergize and fill our tree with mittens, hats, scarves and gloves that will be donated to families in need. All sizes from infant to adult will be accepted. Donations must be new and are due by Thursday, December 19. Thank you for helping to keep Penn Manor families warm this winter!  

While you are Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, or Cyber Monday shopping, please keep this in mind.  

Important Dates and Information for this week:

November 6th, 7th and 8th – Early Dismissal Days – students are dismissed at 1:30 on these days.

November 27th – Early Dismissal

November 28th, 29th and December 2nd – No school in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday

**Important change to spelling this week: We will not be having the traditional spelling test on Friday. Instead, students will be creating spelling slideshows throughout the week that will be graded. They will have time to work in school but may need to finish the slideshows at home. They are due on Friday.

Food Donations

Dear Parents and Guardians,                                               

Every year Penn Manor School District assists families in need with Thanksgiving meals.  We would like to make this process more uniform across the district.  We will be collecting the food listed below between November 4th and Friday, November 15th.  If you have a child in one of these grades, please consider donating to help our community.

Kindergarten-boxed mashed potatoes

1st grade-boxed stuffing

2nd grade-canned corn

3rd grade-canned green beans

4th grade-canned sweet potatoes

5th grade-canned cranberry sauce

6th grade-canned gravy (NO GLASS)

7th and 8th-Cornbread or Muffin mix-water based

Important Dates:

Friday (the 18th) – Social Studies Test and Math Test on chapter 3 for some

October 22nd – Math Benchmark 1

End of Marking Period – October 24th

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Wednesday November 6th and as needed on November 7th

I am still missing several conference forms. Please fill out the form and send them back to school by this Thursday the 17th. I really want to meet with you when it suits you. Thank you for your support!

Date change

Hambright Family Fun Movie Night–DATE CHANGE
The Hambright Family Fun Movie Night is being moved to Friday, November 15th due to a conflict with homecoming for the original date. Hambright students and their immediate family members (i.e. parents and siblings only) are welcome.
Again, the movie night will now be held on November 15th. Doors will open at 6:30. The movie will begin at 7:00 pm. Entrance is FREE!
There will be more details about the evening coming home in November.

We had a fantastic time at County Park yesterday. I was so impressed with my class and their team building skills/communication. Make sure to ask your favorite 6th grader all about it!

**Today (Friday) is an early dismissal day. Students are dismissed at 1:30pm.
