Attention Families! Research indicates that providing ‘healthy morning snacks’ supports learning and “brain power” in school! I provide kids the opportunity to have a “working snack” each day during our reading workshop time. This year we will also be having a morning snack during mask and recess breaks in the morning. Some examples of healthy snacks include-granola bars, fruit, dried fruits, crackers, pretzels, vegetables. Please send in some of these types of choices each day if you choose to participate. I ask kids to save desserts and “chips” of any kind for lunch time. Thanks!
As we increase health and safety protocols for students who are learning in person this school year, we ask that each student comes to school with a refillable water bottle. Please label the refillable bottle with the student’s full name. We will also have bottles of water available for students.
In our elementary schools, students will be able to fill their bottle at the classroom sink. In the coming weeks, water systems will be available for students to refill water bottles.
There has been some confusion about what form to send in for your child to be able to take home a district laptop. Some parents sent in an “Acceptable Use Form”; however, that is not the correct form.
Please click the link below for the 1:1 Laptop Agreement Form. Parent and student should sign the last page and either email it to the student’s teacher, or send it with the student on the first day of school. All other pages may remain at home for future reference.

Dear Martic Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to school! I am Dr. Janssen, your Elementary Physical Education teacher.
This year, your child is scheduled for Physical Education class from August 31st through October 2nd. This will be the only special that he or she has for approximately 5 weeks in a row. Due to COVID-19 protocols and based on the Penn Manor weather policy, Physical Education class will be held outdoors every day when possible.
To help students with this new schedule, the Elementary Physical Education Department has made a list of suggestions to make your child’s learning experience successful. The following recommendations should be followed when participating in Physical Education:
- Wear sneakers and comfortable clothing
- Bring an extra pair of shoes for after PE (wet grass)
- Bring an extra pair of socks
- Bring a personal water bottle (labeled with student name) as water fountains will not be in use
- Bring a plastic bag (labeled with student name) for these items
- Wear an outer layer (sweatshirt, jacket, gloves, hat, etc.) appropriate for outdoor weather conditions
- Please leave jewelry at home (for safety, damage, and risk of loss)
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
