About Me

Meet Team Garvey!

My name is Kim Garvey and I teach 6th Grade at Central Manor Elementary. I have a  smart and fun husband named Bob and three awesome kids, Bobby, Jack, and Maggie. Bobby is married and has two children and lives in California. Jack attends Penn Manor High School and Maggie attends Manor Middle School.

I graduated from Penn Manor High School in 1990 and went to Penn State University. I majored in Broadcast media and was a televsion ratings researcher for CBS. Then I went back to school to Millersville University and got my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. I taught 6th grade at Penn Manor and 7th grade in California. I took a break  from teaching to have my kids and while I was at home I completed my doctorate in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University.

I have a passion for children and for learning. I like to work on finding new ways to use technology in the classroom. I also incorporate Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People into our daily classroom. This is a great age to really learn how be a goal setter and raise the bar of success!

I really enjoy sports and I get to watch a lot of them now that my children play sports. I love Penn State football and to watch rugby whenever I can. I love to bike and swim. I enjoy reading, making cakes with my daughter Maggie and hiking!

  1. Hi Dr. Garvey, it’s me Katya! Hope I are doing well, I just wanted to say I miss you, and girls on track! ): But I just wanted to let you know that I’m running cross country and it’s going great! It’s really fun, and I have placed first in every race except 1 I placed second. I honestly think of all the girls on track memories when I run, and it gets me through the tough parts. My coach has me running with the boys, which I think has really helped me! I just wanted to say thank you so much for everything, and really getting me to love this sport! Hope to here back from you, and congratulations on the new job!!!
    Love, Kaboom Katya
