End of the Year FAQ

I have been getting a lot of questions regarding the end of the year items.

  • Computers will stay with the students all summer. They will return them in the fall. Make sure computers are being turned off regularly so that the computers can do automatic updates.
  • A hard copy of the report cards will be mailed home starting on May 27th. They will also be available on Sapphire starting June 3rd. The name of your 5th-grade teacher will be in the comments on the report cards. I cannot tell you sooner.
  • I have 2 upcoming Meets scheduled. One on Tuesday, May 26th to go over the last assignment of writing a letter to your 5th-grade teacher. I will go over the expectations for the assignment. The second one will on the very last day of school, May 29th. I will not be returning next year, and I’d love to see everyone’s smiling faces one last time. This is also an excellent opportunity for the students to say good-bye to their friends and peers and to find out what everyone’s summer plans are.
  • The personal belongings that were desks are in bags at school with student’s names and my name on the bag. Students will be able to collect their belongings on the first day of school in August. If you are moving, please email Mr. Malek and Mrs. Suydam to schedule a time to pick up the personal belongings.

If you have any other questions, that I may have missed, please feel free to email.

End of Year Showcase Video

Hello Everyone!

Everyone has been working so hard and we would love to see what else you’ve been doing at home. We are planning to create a video by grade level and have students showcase themselves however they would like to be showcased.  So, your child could share a video or picture of themselves with their sheep, their new hens, or the cool science video they created for an assignment! This will also allow kids to see their peers across the entire grade level and will be a great way to end the year with a final farewell! Please email photos or videos to me by Friday, May 15. Thank you for your support!

Virtual Small Groups

Hello everyone,

I’d like to offer small group time to work on the assignments together starting tomorrow.  I’d like to make this a regular thing. Between now and the end of the school year, I will run these small groups.  Please see the schedule below.  Students may drop in and get help and ask questions. I’ll post the link in Google Classroom at 9:10 every morning. I will walk students through the assignments and they have a chance to ask questions or get more support. This is completely optional but I’d like to offer this to everyone.

  • Monday- no small group, new assignment meeting at 11:00 am
  • Tuesdays 9:15-9:45 Math
  • Wednesday 9:15-9:45 ELA/Writing
  • Thursday 9:15-9:45 Content
  • Friday 9:15-9:45 Open to any subject

If you have any questions, please email me.

Students’ Personal Belongings

The health and safety of all Penn Manor students, families, and staff is the number one priority for the Penn Manor School District during this impact of Covid-19.  Due to this unwavering commitment, we are informing all elementary families that your child’s teacher will be taking inventory of items in your child’s locker and desk.  These items will be secured and stored in your child’s school until school resumes in the Fall of 2020.  Upon return to our physical buildings, your child will receive his/her property to begin the 2020-2021 school year. If there is an essential item that your child needs prior to the start of the 2020-2021 school year, please contact Mr. Malek at brian.malek@pennmanor.net.

6th grade students who are transitioning to the middle school will be given a different set of directions by Mr. Malek and the sixth grade teachers in the near future.

4/15 Update

Good morning everyone.

This week we started the assignments where I will be tracking submitted assignments into Sapphire. You can log in to your parent portal to see as well. I know that there were some minor hiccups with the materials posted this week. I want to thank all of you for being patient while I found solutions.

I’d like to do a weekly Google Hangout Meet with students. This will first give me the chance to talk to students about the assignments, field some questions and of course, gives the students a chance to see their peers. I know they are all missing each other very much. The students’ mics need to be muted until they called on. We want to make sure everyone has a fair chance to speak and be heard. I will make sure each child has a chance to speak if they’d like. I will be sending an email shortly to the students to invite them to a Meet for tomorrow morning at 10 am. I will put the link in the Google Classroom tomorrow morning at 9:30am. Moving forward, I’d like to Meet on Mondays so we can discuss the assignments together before they start to work on them.

I want to clarify a question that came up a few times yesterday: I am and will continue to accept email submissions of assignments. I am, however, highly encouraging students to submit assignments on Google Classroom if they can. I do realize not everything can be submitted on Google Classroom. Submitting on Google Classroom streamlines it for me to see who turned it in and I can provide feedback right in Google Classroom. This helps me manage the assignments and my time more effectively. I will repeat again: I am and will continue to accept email submissions of assignments.

I want to thank all the parents and students for their patience as we adjust to remote learning. We will get through this together.

4/8 Updates

Hello everyone!

  • New assignments will be posted on Monday, April 13, 2020. These assignments are no longer optional, these will be mandatory. I will be keeping track of the assignments turned in in Sapphire. I plan to post the assignments directly into my Google Classroom. All students in my homeroom will have access to it. They can then turn it on Google Classroom or parents can still email me the assignments as well.
  • Starting on Monday, April 13, 2020, I will start my office hours. Please check out my tab to find out when I will be available to help support students with their assignments.
  • Mrs. Wiggins and I are going to only have our own homerooms. All assignments will be turned into me. I will be putting into Sapphire the ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies the assignments that are returned.
  • I was approved to host a Virtual Lunch and Chat. I sent an invite to the students in their school Gmail account. The Virtual Lunch and Chat will be Thursday, April 9, 2020 from 12:15-12:45 pm. This has been a crazy year for the students and the past few weeks I’m sure to have been really hard on them. This will give them the chance to see their peers and chat. I hope by seeing their peers’ faces will help ease some of the stress of the current global pandemic. This is also a great way for them to become comfortable using this platform so if we need to use it in the future, it wouldn’t be new for them. Also, just so you are aware, students are not allowed to send Google hangout Meet to their friends. This is to be used as a learning tool.

Please email me with any questions. Have a great weekend.

Welcome to Mrs. Graver’s blog!

My goal of this blog is to keep you up to date with resources and class happenings as well as updates from the district and Central Manor.

I created this blog shortly after starting at Central Manor and have pages that relate to when we were still at school, such as specials schedule and our daily schedules. Obviously, with the recent school closure, those are no longer relevant. I’ll be adding more to this blog as I know more about the online learning change we are making. Please have patience as we all navigate this change together.

Please subscribe so you are notified when new content is made available.
