Hambright Families, This year we have permitted students to bring in small gifts or treats for birthdays or classroom celebrations. We are asking that if edible treats are brought to school, they are store-bought and contain a label with ingredients. This is primarily due to the number of food allergies that we have across the building. Knowing exactly which ingredients are in any edible treats is important to the safety of all our students. **Non-edible gifts are preferred if you are sending in something for a birthday. Thank you for your understanding! Mr. Howe and Dr. Mealy
We had a great time learning and exploring at Maple Grove Park last week! We conducted water quality studies, hiked to look for point and non-point source pollution, and studied aquatic macroinvertebrates in the field. We also enjoyed some pumpkin painting on Friday as a way to celebrate fall.
On November 22nd and 23rd we will be offering Parent-Teacher Conferences. Each conference is 15 minutes long, and you may choose an “in-person” conference or a “virtual” conference. For in-person conferences, masks must be worn in the building at all times.
You will need to sign in with a Google Account (you may use your students, but please note that the confirmation email will be sent to THEIR school Gmail account). If choosing a virtual conference, you will need to use their Gmail account to log in to the actual meeting as well.
Here is a video with directions for signing up. Be sure to include your child’s name and “in-person” or “virtual” in the description box when you sign up. Please note that because our conferences are only 15 minutes long, you may want to schedule another time to review any pressing concerns or more in-depth questions. If you are unable to find a time that works for you, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you.

We had beautiful weather for our day at Stroud! While we didn’t get in the creek today, we did find and sort macroinvertebrates, view a tree nursery, and measured and compared water flow in riffles, runs, and pools. Thanks to the great team at Stroud for hosting us!
We’ve been busy learning! So far we’ve identified story elements, learned about place value and rounding, started our addition and subtraction unit, distinguished terrestrial planets from ice giants, and observed the phases of the moon!
Today we made lots of great fourth grade memories! We went on some scavenger hunts for new friends, saved Sam (ask your student to tell you more) and learned more about expectations of fourth grade learning and leadership. I can’t wait to see everyone again tomorrow!
Back-to-School Night is scheduled for Wednesday, September 1st. The program will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM This is an open house drop-in format where you will have the opportunity to briefly view your child’s classroom(s) and meet his/her teacher(s).
In order to minimize the number of people in the classrooms at one time, we are asking that parents visit the school anytime during their designated time period, as teachers will not be delivering formal presentations. Additionally, children are asked to stay home.
Families with the last names A through M are asked to participate from 4:00-4:45 PM
Families with the last names N through Z are asked to participate from 5:15-6:00 PM.
While in the building we ask that you follow these mitigation strategies:
Please practice social distancing and respect other individuals’ preferences, including those of our teachers.
Monitor your own health prior to attending the event. If you are experiencing any COVID-related symptoms, please do not attend.
If you have specific concerns related to your child, please contact me to schedule an appointment. The time we have together is not private, and I may be helping other families. I’m always happy to meet at your convenience to talk with you about your child’s progress!
I am so excited to see you all on the first day! By now, you should have received a letter from me about the new school year. Please be in touch if you have not gotten your letter by now. Feel free to look around this website to learn more about the year ahead, school supplies for the year, our classroom schedules and procedures, and to learn a little about me!
Our school year will be filled with lots of fun, adventure, learning, and love. I can’t wait to see your sweet faces on the 30th!
We had a lovely day releasing our trout fingerlings into Lititz Run at Millport Conservancy. We released over 100 rainbow trout that we raised from eggs. Many thanks to the Donegal chapter of Trout Unlimited for gifting us the tank and equipment and paying for our field trip today!
