It’s hard to believe we are already coming to the last week of January! WOW!
In the weekly work envelopes today, you will find a Valentine list of names for both classes. This is optional; however, if your child does decide participate, we ask that he/she provides a Valentine for every student in the homeroom. Students may begin bringing Valentine’s in during the week of February 10th.
Also–if your child does not have a pair of earbuds to keep in his/her computer bag, would you please consider purchasing a pair? You can find them at the Dollar Tree. Earbuds are very beneficial when students are watching videos in class and on Prodigy.
We want to send some weekly reminders for you about next week.
On Monday, January 27 report cards will be sent home. Please review with your child, sign the report card envelope, and have your child return the envelope to school. Please consider providing comments on the enclosed sheet. This is a wonderful way to communicate with us or feel free to send an email.
We are celebrating 100th Day of School on Friday, January 31. We are asking the students to dress like they are 100 years old. Be creative! We always enjoy seeing the students dressed up on this day! We will be sure to post some pictures. The day will also be centered around the number 100 as the students will participate in a variety of stations.
Science: The students have been learning about energy and some of its forms. They will be quizzed on this information next week. Students may take home their science journals to study if need be. (4G quiz is on Wed./4S quiz is on Thurs.) Next, we will begin to look deeper into electrical energy!! This is where the fun begins! 🙂
Math: We are finishing up Chapter 8, Fractions. Students will be tested near the end of the week.
Spelling: We are on Lesson 16. As always, activities and test will be on Friday.
Reading/Writing: The students have been working very hard to write a two-column note for a TDA. This week we will continue mentor sentences with an our Storytown story, Because of Winn Dixie. The students will be reading an excerpt from this story. As we have begun Unit 4, UNDERSTANDING ELEMENTS OF FICTION, the students are digging deeper to understand story elements. We are also introducing and discussing the fictional writings of POETRY, PROSE, and DRAMA. Please continue to encourage your child to read at home to help accomplish the 40 Book Challenge. January Book It Calendars will also be due at the end of the week.
Have a wonderful weekend!!!
