Just a reminder that tomorrow, Wednesday, is our All School Field Trip. We are asking that all students arrive to school on time so everyone is here when we are ready to leave.
Both Kindergarten classes will be attending school from 9:00 am – 11:35 am.
AM students – it is a normal school day, except the students will be on the field trip. PM students who are bus riders after school will be picked up by the bus in the morning.
Both AM & PM students will be need to be picked up at the school at 11:35. Pick up will be at the BACK of the school, NOT IN THE FRONT. Parents should drive around back and follow the circle to the back door. Staff members will bring the children out to your car.
AM parents should have their child’s name tag in clear view. PM parents should have their passenger side window down and be prepared to tell the staff member who you are picking up.
AM WRAP students will go to WRAP as usual.
Field trip forms for the PA Capitol will be coming home TODAY. We appreciate your willingness to get these back to us as soon as possible so we can coordinate chaperones and allow sufficient time for them to notify work. These two field trip forms will be due back to your child’s homeroom teacher by Tuesday, April 9th. THANK YOU!
**A letter came home last week regarding PSSAs and possible donations. Please take the time to read the letter and let us know if you are able to donate any items. ***IF you did not receive a letter or small brown envelope, please notify your child’s homeroom teacher ASAP. In addition, you may send back your three notes in the small brown envelope whenever you finish. We really hope that all students will be able to get three notes written by their family members. THANK YOU for ALL of your support in these next few weeks.
Father -Daughter Dance forms will be coming home today. They are due back by this Thursday, April 4th since the dance is Friday, April 5th. 🙂
Coming home this weekend will be a small brown envelope with important information regarding PSSA testing and a few surprises we have planned for the kids. This small envelope will be located in your child’s Weekly Work Envelope or in their home folder. Please take the time to review the enclosed letter. Please send back your notes in that same small brown envelope labeled “Return to…” whenever you finish. 🙂 Thank you in advance for all of your help and support in these upcoming weeks!

This week we are comparing and contrasting two texts, “Danitra Brown Leaves Town” and “Summertime Star Parties.” Both passages are located in the student anthology.
Spelling- This week we will be doing Daily Edit grammar for homework instead of spelling. There will be a quiz at the end of the week on the grammar concepts covered on the homework.

Social Studies – Students are finishing up their unit on Pennsylvania the Colony. Miss Eby’s class will take the test on Wednesday, March 13th, and Mrs. Gwyn’s class will take the test on Thursday, March 14th. To help study, students have a packet of information they can use. Some studying ideas that came from fellow 4th graders include making flashcards (the cause and effect page in the packet is able to be cut apart for this), having an adult or sibling use the packet to test the 4th grader, or creating their own test using the packet and having someone else take it.
Reading – Unit 4 on fiction came to a close this week. The students will hopefully be finishing up their TDA for this unit assessment today. Look for these tests to come home in your child’s Weekly Work Envelope (WWE) this week or next week. Next up – Unit 5: Evaluating Author’s Claim!
Writing – Has your child asked you which is better – handwritten letters or electronic letters? That is what they are writing about this week. Be sure to see those essays coming home in the next few weeks!
Math- We are finishing Chapter 11 on Monday. This chapter was all about measurement. We will review with a practice test on Tuesday and the test will be on Wednesday, March 13.

Measure, measure, measure! As we move into another chapter we are discussing measurement. We have already learned about measuring and the units of length and capacity. We will continue this chapter by talking about weight and time. We have been challenged in converting measurements as it is a tricky concept! We will be wrapping up this chapter the beginning to middle of next week. Ask your student about measurement! Maybe they can even help in the kitchen or around the house to practice using these skills!
Due to the shortened day on Monday, the students will be taking their UNIT 5 – FICTION test on Wednesday, March 6th instead of tomorrow. If students wish to refresh their memory on the skills for this unit, they may bring home their FLASH READERS.
