I am excited about teaching kindergarten at Central Manor Elementary. I think kindergarten should be a time of active learning. My favorite children’s book character is Curious George. He is ambitious and learns through experiences. I like when children ask questions. I think it is important for kindergarten students to develop an excitement about learning.
My husband, Richard, is a professor at Millersville University. We have two children. Our older son, Ryan, graduated from Penn Manor this past June. He attends Penn State University in State College, where he is majoring in engineering. Our younger son, Andrew, is a junior at Penn Manor HIgh School.
My teaching certifications are in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I have a master’s degree in Elementary Education. I am looking forward to applying these areas of study in the classroom. Being a parent has deepened my understanding of the importance of nurturing children. Teaching children is precious work.
Our classroom will be a welcoming environment. Students will feel safe and valued. The curriculum will challenge students to grow and learn in meaningful ways every day. I am looking forward to a fun and productive year.
