Kids at Work day is on Friday

Friday, March 27

Elementary students across the district are encouraged to come to school dressed as a “worker” from a career or job in which they may be interested.   Mrs. Mayzum and I will be decorating our classroom door themed like the colleges we have attended, and I’ll be talking to the kids about my journey to become a teacher.  This should be a fun day!

Friday is also a 1:30 early dismissal day for our students.

Thursday, March 26

The Hands on House will be stopping by Eshleman on Thursday morning to present “Senses Safari” to the first graders.  Our program will begin promptly at 9:00 AM.  If you drive or walk your son or daughter to school, please try to arrive at school promptly at 8:50.  The kids will need every minute they can get to unpack, do lunch count, and be in the all purpose room by 9:00 AM.  Thank you!

School Picture Day

Eshleman school picture day is tomorrow, March 20.  If the snow really does arrive tonight and we have a two hour delay, pictures will be rescheduled for another date.   If there is no delay, we will still get our pictures taken tomorrow as scheduled.   There is no need to send any money to school at this time.  Printed pictures will be sent home for you to decide if you would like to make a purchase.

We’re so lucky!

We’re lucky because our leprechaun “Leonard” came to our room for a visit today.  He made a mess but in return he left us some Lucky Charms to graph and tally during Math class AND he surprised us with a rainbow cake!

We’re also lucky because we have wonderful families at Eshleman who participate in fundraisers so the PTO could buy us a new piece of playground equipment!  We were extra lucky today because the ground was dry  and the weather was warm so we got to play on it for the first time since it was installed!  YAHOO!

Spring picture day is on Friday.  Send them to school clean and shiny, and I’ll try my best to keep them that way!

Spring picture day…

Can I post about spring pictures when there is snow on the ground?  Our day for pictures will be on Friday, March 20.  Everyone will get their picture taken on this date.  Printed pictures will be sent home for you to view prior to making a purchase.  How nice that you get to view them first!

PTO happenings

Yearbook orders – Please complete a yearbook order form and send it to school as soon as possible if you would like to order a yearbook for your son/daughter.  Extra forms are available in the school office, or I’d be happy to send another one home with your child.

Discounted Hershey Park tickets are available through our school until March 27th.  The prices are great – don’t miss out on your chance to have some discounted family fun when the weather turns warmer!  Let me know if you need another order form!

Eshleman BINGO night will be held on Friday, March 20.  Bring your entire family to enjoy a night of fun with the kids.  The PTO is looking for donations of cookies, brownies, chips, and pretzels.

Parent Volunteers Needed

The Hands on House is presenting “Senses Safari” to our class on March 26.  I need 4 parent volunteers to help with this event from 9-10 AM.  This is an action -packed program where the kids will learn by doing.  We will be provided with unique hands-on activities that blend learning with fun!  Our program lasts for approximately 45 minutes.  In addition to chaperoning a small group of students, our volunteers may  also be asked to help the Hands on House teacher clean up or load some supplies in her car following the program.  It is a hands on house rule that siblings are not able to attend this event.  If you would like to help, please send me an email.

We’re also fortunate to have Polina’s mom work at the Millersville University library!  She has invited us to join a class of future teachers who will be engaging our class in curriculum-integrated activities.  We will be walking to Millersville University on Monday, April 20.  Following our trip to MU, we will walk to Freedom Memorial Park for a picnic lunch before returning to school.  Volunteers are needed to walk with us to and from MU and Freedom Memorial Park.  Volunteers would need to arrive at school by 8:50 and plan to stay with us for most of the day.  Siblings will not be able to join us on this trip.  Please email me or send in a note if you would like to volunteer for this exciting adventure.
