A few reminders

Eshleman movie night is tonight from 6:30-8PM.  Minions will be shown!  As your admission, please bring an item to contribute to PM Cares.  Suggestions are personal care items such as toothpaste, razors, body wash, shampoo, conditioner etc… as well as household items such as ziplock bags, toilet paper, napkins, tissues, dryer sheets, plastic wrap and other similar items.  Thanks so much!

Please check to see that your child leaves the house each morning with gloves and a hat.  Some of the kids are coming in from lunch recess with red and “frozen hands.”  I don’t think that groundhog knew what he was talking about!

Mr. McCabe sent home our Jump Rope for Heart forms yesterday.  This is an optional activity for the kids to have fun and raise money for the American Heart Association.

Pizza Hut reading logs can be sent back to school beginning on February 26.  Thanks for reading at home with your child!

Thank you for sending in supplies for our 100th day of school and Valentines Day activities.   I appreciate those of you who were able to supply donations or were able to come in to celebrate the 100th day with our class!

On Friday we had a school wide reading celebration.  Our class was able to participate in a snowball throwing contest because we were able to read and retell enough books to build a snowman.  You may have seen our snowman in the lobby as you enter Eshleman.  Danny and Layla were chosen from our class to see how many “snowballs” they could get into a bucket that was on top of my head!  They were racing against students in Mr. Heiney’s class as well as both second grade classes.  Together they threw 19 snowballs into my bucket and were declared the winners!   Our class earned some “sit spots”/cushions to use in our room for the rest of the marking period!  Later in the day we were treated to some snow cones courtesy of the PTO!   We sure had a fun day!  Congratulations readers!

Our book exchange day is every cycle day 1.  We have quite a few friends with overdue books.  Late books can be sent to school any day.  Our next scheduled book exchange day will be on Tuesday, February 23.

This week’s schedule:

Wednesday – Day 3    Library instruction (not book exchange)

Thursday – Day 4  21st century learning

Friday – Day 5  Gym class

Monday, February 22  – Day 6  Music class  and spelling test

Tuesday, February 23  – Day 1  Music and book exchange

Mark your calendar:

Friday, February 19 – Kids at Work Day – Kids may come to school dressed like their future career choice!

Friday, February 19 – Eshleman movie night (showing Minions) 6:30-8 PM

Friday, February 26 – 1:30 early dismissal

Eshleman BINGO night – Friday, March 18

Our QU/WH baby shower was a hit!  Thank you for helping your child choose something special to bring in for our quints.  It’s the small activities such as these that make our learning so much fun!

Tomorrow is our 100th day of school!  The kids are welcome to dress like a 100 year old.  Please send in a collection  of 100 items (cotton balls, dry beans, candy, rubber bands, cereal, hair ties etc…) that can fit into a zip lock bag.  Thanks to everyone who donated items for this fun day and to those who are able to help run a station at our celebration.  All volunteers should arrive at 1:00 PM please.

Friday is our Valentine exchange.  We have 18 friends in our room along with our classroom aide “Mrs. R.”  Sending in Valentines is optional.  If your child would like to participate I ask that a valentine is brought in for every friend in our room.  All treats that are attached to Valentines should be store bought so the allergy ingredients are easily read.  We have a peanut allergy in our room so it’s best to avoid any snacks with peanuts.  So many rules, I know!  Thanks so much for helping to make this day special for the kids in our room!

2/8 – 100 day celebration

2/9 – Gym day, wear sneakers

2/12 – We do have school!  This will  also be the day of our school wide reading assembly!  Our classroom goal was to read and retell stories until we reached our goal!  We made it, and the kids are getting to be champs at retelling stories!  Thank you for practicing this important skill at home!

2/15 – No school for students

2/16 – There will be a substitute teacher in our room.  She’s a friend of mine.   The kids will have a great day with her!

2/19 – Kids at work day – Dress like your future career.  Refer to the paper that was sent home on Friday.
