We will be having our next DEAR on Friday, February 3rd.  Our theme is ‘Warm Up With A Good Book.”  Students are welcome to bring a few favorite stories to school, along with a hat, mittens, and scarf if they would like to!

Pizza Hut reading logs for January may be returned any day this week.  I’ll send February calendars home on Wednesday.  Thanks for reading at home with your kids!

Report cards were sent home on Friday.  I’m proud of the accomplishments of all of my first grade friends!  There is a an optional comment sheet for you to complete.  Please sign the brown report card cover and return it along with the comment sheet this week.

Monday will be a school wide Box Top collection day.  Thank you for sending Box Tops in and helping our PTO earn money for Eshleman!

My goodness, we have been busy!  We are learning how to write reports.  Spiders are our first topic since we all fell in love with Charlotte in our read aloud book Charlotte’s Web!  We are ready to write our final copies, and even made spiders to go along with our reports!  What good writers I have!

I was so happy with the sentences the kids were able to write on the back of their spelling tests.  Everyone took on this new challenge and did a great job!

On Tuesday night the School Board approved a minor revision in the school calendar for the current 2016-2017 school year.  As a result, the date for the early dismissal in May moved from May 19 to May 12, 2017 to coincide with the date of the high school prom.  Please take note of it on your calendars at home.  Thank you!

We will begin a new semester on Tuesday, Jan 17th, and along with that our specials will change too.

Day A – Phys. Ed (Our class will have book exchange every other cycle day A, beginning on January 17).

Day B – Music

Day C – Flex

Flex is a new special that your child will attend during the second half of the school year.  During Flex the children may have extra recess, guidance lessons, cooperative games, and building activities.
